I'm as bored with this story as I am with Will's seemingly same character he plays in every movie. He shouldn't have responded this way in a public event. Rock shouldn't have made the joke either, but it did not deserve that kind of response, and definitely not at that time.

My take: Smith was in the wrong and should have approached Rock during a commercial break and just told him it didn't sit well with Jada, and that he would appreciate an apology. That being said, I don't think the man deserves to be 100% cancelled and I don't see the 10 year ban actually lasting.

I promise you the ten year ban lasts. Not that it matters much but you won't see him at the Oscars for ten years at least. If he gets another nomination before then (which isn't that likely anyway) he won't be there.
I fully expect Chris Rock to present the Best Actress Oscar next year if he doesn't host.

I've seen this tactic used lots during the last couple years, where they have a picture of a beloved public figure with a caption like "Tragic end for Wayne Gretzky today". I never click on them, knowing it's a fake out. I've seen them so often, that when I first saw the great Norm MacDonald passed away, I rolled my eyes thinking it was another one of those ads again.

On my mobile device I use the YoutTube app which I find convenient but I have to tolerate the ads which are not too obtrusive. That Ad I posted quite surprised me however.

Same, but in that particular ad I posted I was so intrigued to click to see what I would read. Did not find anything on Will Smith.
