Forrest Fenn treasure found!

I don't know if my search skills are not up to the task or if its actually never been discussed in the Other Forum but the Forrest Fenn poem has been solved and someone found the million-dollar treasure in NM. A similar story was shared in the Longmire season finale. and of course, there are already lawsuits. LOL

Congratulations to Anonymous. I always figured that the treasure hunt was the ultimate troll.

Re: Forrest Fenn treasure found!

I never knew about this treasure hunt until the last couple of days, but I do find the topic very fascinating.

In a related topic, I didnít know about the 80s book ďThe SecretĒ until a couple months ago after it appeared on Expedition Unknown (Travel Channel). I canít believe most of that hasnít been solved yet.

Expedition Unknown has an episode on this Fenn treasure, so I obviously havenít seen that episode. Iíll have to look it up.

Re: Forrest Fenn treasure found!

I got this book in 1981. Somebody solved the mystery and found the treasure in 1982.

I first heard about Fennís fortune from that episode of Expedition Unknown.

It wasnít that far from where I live. A weekend adventure wouldnít have been out of the question. I actually would have considered it if I didnít suck at solving clues.

It would be nice to see the treasure and maybe make a documentary about how and where it was found.

Misled. I thought Sherilyn Fenn had been found.

I didn't even know she was missing.

I don't even know who she is.

I remember the Longmire episode; never knew it was based on a real thing. That’s pretty crazy!

Re: Forrest Fenn treasure found!

Just watched the Expedition Unknown Fenn episode and it wasnít all that great. And I mean the treasure hunt itself isnít all that exciting.

ďThe SecretĒ treasure hunt is still alive! Go for it!

That's an interesting read. For those who won't bother to click, the TLDR version is that he thinks Fenn is lying about the treasure being found, for publicity.

Re: Forrest Fenn treasure found!

I have no idea what any of this is about except that it doesn’t involve the hot broad from Twin Peaks.

Cliffís notes version:
-Random dude (Forrest Fenn) hides a treasure chest filled with gold in the Rocky Mountains of NM.
-He creates a treasure map consisting of poetic clues to find the treasure.
-He says itís his way of getting people outside to enjoy wilderness.
-People try to follow the clues for years with no luck. Some people actually die looking for it.
-Same random dude now says treasure was finally found but apparently gives no details aside from the finder is from the East coast.
-As is the MO of the internet, people are suspicious and think either the treasure still hasnít been found or he was lying about it this whole time.

Re: Forrest Fenn treasure found!

I read the clue-poem when it was first published. I think it was in the local paper. I couldn't make any sense of it. I'll never make a good treasure hunter.

The Poem
I suppose if I knew where to start I could maybe follow some of those clues. Otherwise Iíd probably be 150 miles off just wandering around the woods.
