The other "physical media" message board has some really insane OCD posters there. Nitpicking about slip covers and getting paranoid about their Steelbook pre-orders. And then some are analyzing frame rates.
Really I can picture a bunch of sticky keyboards reading some members posting it came with a slip.
do not get me wrong,I do like some slips,like the guardians of the galaxy Walmart ones were cool.
Also my opinion that site and admin favor the studios over the consumers.
For me facebook community groups are the worst. Some good local info,but more than half is crap postings.

For some topics I'm interested in, reddit groups are frigging useless and FB groups aren't much better. I'll really miss forums like this, they are perfect for people who actually like to read.

This is the only messageboard that I frequent, except for "that other" Bluray.com forum where the pedants are even more pedantic than I when it comes to AV quality, encodes, and bitrates. No facebook or other social media for me. it's a huge and unnecessary timesink, and 99% of it is needless banter. At least at DVDTalk, I'm informed and entertained at the same time! And the crowd is more mature, of course. And, free to contribute unpopular opinions at will.

I left one (DVDfile) because one of the mods was on a power trip and banned/suspended people and closed threads he didn't like even though no rules were broken.
That was back in the 2002. It wasn't long after that the forum shut down.

I've left threads on DVD Talk because of some posters.
But at least MOST of the regulars here get that we sometimes like to kid around, play devil's advocate, etc., with topics - those guys over on that "other" popular "Bluray" site are insane...so while I still visit it, I rarely get sucked into posting, unless it's just passing along information.
