Does leaving a massage parlor because you were rubbed the wrong way count?

Yeah it's like a neighborhood where all kids on the block have left so things have quieted down. Now it's just old folks, empty nesters, single adults, etc. and for the most part these types keep things quiet and little on the boring side.
I can only think of one person that came back and started drama back up from 20 years ago.
No one cares enough to "spy"
No one kisses people's rear ends.
And you were part of two of those assholery gathering spots outside of this forum.

I mean, if you are going to disparage people at least give full disclosure.

I post on there occasionally, I'm not an music or audio expert by any means, but I know enough to hold my own. I even participate in the occasional Beatles thread and that can be a bit daunting over there.

I'm always amazed how active it is. Sometimes I'll be reading a new thread and by the time I go back to the main page the thread has moved to the next page. I don't think this place was ever quite that active, even in its heyday.

Lies But hey, if it's not you then move on.

Why get in your feelings when i didn't mention any names and used "20 years ago" as a random number? But sure...there are no spies/stans here.

It's interesting to see all the drama and hurt feelings that are being dredged up in this particular thread of all places.

Re: Have you ever left a message board because you found the members annoying?

The other "physical media" message board has some really insane OCD posters there. Nitpicking about slip covers and getting paranoid about their Steelbook pre-orders. And then some are analyzing frame rates.
Hey does that come with a slip?
Really I can picture a bunch of sticky keyboards reading some members posting it came with a slip.
do not get me wrong,I do like some slips, like the guardians of the galaxy Walmart ones were cool.
Also my opinion that site and admin favor the studios over the consumers.

For me facebook community groups are the worst. Some good local info, but more than half is crap postings.

For some topics I'm interested in, reddit groups are frigging useless and FB groups aren't much better. I'll really miss forums like this, they are perfect for people who actually like to read.

For real discussions in Reddit you need to join the private groups. The public groups are always just going to be stuffed with trolls.

Re: Have you ever left a message board because you found the members annoying?

This is the only messageboard that I frequent, except for "that other" Bluray.com forum where the pedants are even more pedantic than I when it comes to AV quality, encodes, and bitrates. No facebook or other social media for me. it's a huge and unnecessary timesink, and 99% of it is needless banter. At least at DVDTalk, I'm informed and entertained at the same time! And the crowd is more mature, of course. And, free to contribute unpopular opinions at will.

Re: Have you ever left a message board because you found the members annoying?

I left one (DVDfile) because one of the mods was on a power trip and banned/suspended people and closed threads he didn't like even though no rules were broken.
That was back in the 2002. It wasn't long after that the forum shut down.

Private Reddit groups, huh? I'll try to find one or two to join, thanks for the advice.

A board has left me and blocked me before

I left metal sludge since a lot of people on there seemed like they were racists and not that bright.

This post has provided yet another example of as the title says: "left a message board because you found the members annoying" and even after a mod warning.

The Star Wars threads over there would give dex14 a stroke.

Re: Have you ever left a message board because you found the members annoying?

I've left threads on DVD Talk because of some posters.

But at least MOST of the regulars here get that we sometimes like to kid around, play devil's advocate, etc., with topics - those guys over on that "other" popular "Bluray" site are insane...so while I still visit it, I rarely get sucked into posting, unless it's just passing along information.

As long as we're talking shit about other forums here, I have to say the standards of Home Theater Forum have REALLY declined lately. I think it started when they stopped requiring people to use their real names. One moderator there is unbelievable, some of the things he's said would have gotten regular members warned if not banned.

To this site's credit, the overall atmosphere has gotten smarter- I didn't hold it in very high regard about 15 years ago. Those posters are now long gone of course, who knows what they're doing now.
I'm fine if they want Cobra Kai on a Blu-Ray(though I'll buy the DVD probably because I like the show) it's how over the top a lot of the posters were about how it has to be on Blu-Ray or its a no go, even though the show is available in some locations with 4KHDR. One person said he would refuse to watch it because there is no physical media release planned(before the DVD was announced). Another said that he refused to watch it on streaming because that is killing physical media. My personal favorite said that he really wants to support the show and will pick up the Blu when it's released, but until that time he's fine just pirating it. It just makes me shake me head and go really? Some posters there almost seem to act that not releasing something on Blu is a personal insult to them.
