Hurricane Season 2019

I was going to title the thread Hurricane Dorian, but they say this is going to be an over active hurricane season, so why have multiple threads in a quiet place like this. Anyway, this beyotch just hit Cat 1 status and is predicted to get up to Cat 3 before it smashes into America's Wang, my current residence of Florida. My roof is getting redone and I don't have a permanent roof on right now. Not looking forward to this shit.

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

I'm just north of West Palm Beach. Watching the tracking closely. All of our windows are impact glass, so I just need to put shutters on a few glass doors. There's already a panic rush to get gasoline. I have emergency supplies in place and should have enough food. The prepping of the house and the waiting is such a bitch.

Wishing all my fellow Floridians to stay safe. I hope this storm does not grow enough to be devastating.

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

I picked up some sandbags tonight. My living room flooded during Irma 2 years ago and I'd like to avoid a repeat. Supposedly we are looking at a Cat 2 when it hits Tampa. Wife was out getting some more water and dry goods and most of the stores are already running low on water. My gas tank is pretty full and I don't plan on getting out on the Interstate after those driving disasters during Irma. My biggest fear is getting stuck in a parking lot on the Interstate with the storm bearing down.

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

Good luck fellow Floridians. This is hurricane #7 for me. Maybe it'll turn into the ocean Doubt it this looks like it's going to hit. Just a matter of where and how strong. At least we have several days to prepare.

Had to work a couple years ago during Irma. Sleeping at work with an air mattress while your family is at home during a category 3 storm is not fun.

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

Looks like the track going for central FL is likely wrong. It's just an average of the two models competing. Either the Euro or the GFS. So looks like it'll hit Miami or Jacksonville. Come on Euro model!

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

From what I've seen over the past 5 years or so, the Euro model is more accurate. That blows for me, literally because I have an exposed north facing wall, so the winds will be consistent out of the north and will push water into that wall.

Oh, don't forget to get cash. When the power goes out, so do your credit cards.

Iíve found this to be true too. At least since 2015. Yesterday afternoon the GFS so such an outlier that it had the path hitting between Charleston and Georgetown, SC.

Depending on how much love is being spread around...invite them to come see you.

Btw, I predict it will move more north/northeast, probably skipping Florida altogether (turning into a trop storm). Weather people love to kick things up a notch.

It's going to be wet -- wettest in the history of water. Biggest ever. Total disaster. Thoughts and prayers. Grab your golf clubs and leave while you can. Water is wet. It's so, so wet. And wind. Lots of people talking about winds. Big winds. And rain. Wet winds. Big wet wind.

Re: Hurricane Season 2019

Anyone remember 2004? I was living in Central Florida at that time and we got hit with 3 hurricanes in one season. It was bat shit crazy. We lost power for about 2 weeks. And the branches we cleaned up from our yard were still there when the second one hit. Fun fact. Anyone that's been to Legoland in Florida it used to be called Cypress Gardens. Florida's first theme park that predates even Disneyland. Anyways, there's a wooden roller coaster there that is dinosaur themed. When it was Cypress Gardens they had just built that roller coaster when the storms hit and in honor of that they named it the Triple Hurricane.
