(I personally thanked Penn Jillette for including Circumcision as an episode of 'Bullshit'. Told him he needed to get the word out.)
But when you say "all genital surgeries need to be banned" it just shows your lack of knowledge in the area. Hypospadius is a common condition affecting 1 in 250 males that needs surgical correction in infancy.
Circumcised penises are prettier. Or so I'm told.

And more hygienic! For those who don't want smegma buildup and / or the unwashed hippies and neo-hippies!

Take a bath.

And the loss of sensitivity is a major factor too. I canít help but wonder what Iíve missed being cut and missing a major part of my organ.

I've often wondered about that too.

This reminds me of a great "Married with Children" episode where Al Bundy goes to the hospital for a circular incision and the surgeon misreads the notes and gives him a circumcision.

I've always wondered how circumcision got started in the first place.

Like, was a caveman sitting around a fire thinking "Hmm. I want to cut off part of my dick."

According to Professor Google, It is virtually universal in the Jewish and Muslim religions, having started with Abraham (Genesis 17: 11) who lived around 2000 BC. Abraham was unable to get Sarah (his wife) pregnant. At an advanced age we are told that God ordered him to get circumcised, and he promptly succeeded in fathering a son, Isaac, by Sarah.

Do a lot of 70 y/o men want to be circumcised? Maybe when they rolled that dude into the operating room, they should have asked themselves that question.

There are reasons to get circumcised as an adult. Conditions like phimosis where the foreskin gets stuck and is painful. It's not commonly done, but neither is bladder surgery. Not that that in any way excuses that terrible medical error. But clearly somebody was scheduled for a circumcision there and it probably wasn't a baby.

I'm certainly not going to do a google search for phimosis (I can do without seeing any images that it may bring up ), but wouldn't such things that require circumcision at an advanced age be noticeable while prepping for the procedure? Or are some of these things only apparent during an erection, and when flaccid the penis seems normal with someone who has such a condition?

No, it wouldn't be. It's just a foreskin that gets stuck and can't be manually retracted easily from the glans of the penis

That's why I'm not a doctor I guess.

Yep, that's probably the only reason.

Oh, and medical school. But that and medical school are probably the only reasons.
