Thank you, thank you.

A decent amount of big-ish name deaths today - Ted Lindsay, Luke Perry, serial killer Juan Corona and the Prodigy guy.

Because it's "cheating", or because it's ghoulish?

I definitely don't think it's the latter, as at least death is somewhat expected. If you choose younger celebrities, it seems far more ghoulish, as you're banking on some kind of unnatural death like an accident or an overdose. Obviously, I don't want any of the celebs on my list to die (I love a lot of their work), but I have to say I kinda expect it. To me, that's what a dead pool is all about.

Jan michael Vincent has died. Not too much of a surprise as he seemed to be at deaths door due to poor lifestyle choices of his youth. RIP

I believe I had him on a prior years picks, but not this year. I am surprised he doesn't appear to be on even one person's picks for this year.

The whole point of the deadpool is to pick the ones you think will pass during the year. Eliminating those that have cancer or some kind of deadly illness, or those that are over a certain age, defeats the purpose of the contest. If we eliminted those peramiters, we would be pretty much just be picking names out of a hat and winning by pure random luck like is a Superbowl squares pool. The thing I like about this pool is that it gives us all exposure to people we may have never heard of before or are not very familiar with. I'm sure most of us on here have googled at least a name or two from others' lists to get some information on them. So picking someone older for intance will make us learn about someone that probably hasn't been in the limelight for many years and may have been so since before some of us were born. There's quite a few on others list that I've never heard of before, and now I know something about them because I went to research who they are. Mimmie Van Horn is one off the top of my head that I was not familiar with before this list, but now i know a little bit about who she is and why she would be considered significant.

This is cold but surprised Walter Mondale is still around at 91.

I thought he was dead.

Are we going to get a score update after Coral's hit on Ted Lindsay last week?

Hit? You make it sound like I took him out myself. I want to win - but not THAT bad.

Re: Dead pool 2019

Yeah, that wasn't my intention, but I saw that it could be read that way right after I wrote it. I then decided to leave it that way for comedic purposes

I wished I hadn't watched it. I would have never in a million years would I have guessed that was JMV if I didn't already know. I have never seen someone fall that far before. From being the highest paid person on TV, to the very bottom of the barrel. It's sad to think he had it all, and threw it all way because of drugs and booze.

The world of magic has been unusually cruel recently as well ... Johnny Thompson died this past weekend. He collapsed at a rehearsal for Penn & Teller’s Fool Us on February 25th and died Saturday. He was 84.

Kissinger has good genes.

I thought Trent Lott was dead until his name popped up in the news a couple of weeks ago

Re: Dead pool 2019

Since we're talking "I had no idea he/she was still alive", today I saw an article headline that the Milwaukee Brewers were doing something special for Bob Uecker, and I could have sworn he died years ago. Had to read the article to be sure he wasn't, and even after that I checked Wikipedia. Yup, still alive.

Friday the 13th part 7 director and horror makeup effects artist John Carl Buechler has passed away at 66. Not a big name but if you're a horror movie fan this is sad news.

Re: Dead pool 2019

Who had Charles Van Doren the inspiration for the movie Quiz Show?

Charles Van Doren, the dashing young academic whose meteoric rise and fall as a corrupt game show contestant in the 1950s inspired the movie "Quiz Show" and served as a cautionary tale about the staged competitions of early television, has died. He was 93.
