Re: Hurricane Florence.

Buy as much food as you can!

For Otters, this means potato chips, tortilla chips, salsa, beer, etc.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

It just got upgraded to Cat 3.

And there are two more behind it. At least their projected paths are different. Looks like Hawaii is getting another storm.

Eta: make that a Cat 4.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

What’s worse:

1. Having the hurricane that destroys everything you own and love have a comical name that makes everyone laugh. “What happened?” “My whole family was blown away by hurricane Gary.”

2. Having the once in a lifetime opportunity where a raging category 5 is poised to kill millions and its named after you, only to see it downgraded to a Tropical Depression 2 days later and you sulk off back to the basement.

Number 2 happened to me.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

May friend who lives off the coast of SC was in Hawaii when Hurricane Lane hit. When he posted about Florence coming at him he posted that the Hurricane snacks that were available in HI were far superior and he's going to load up on SPAM to ride this one out.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

Just drove through the area that will likely get slammed today but am fortunately now south of where the bulk of it will hit (Jekyll Island, GA) for the next week or so. I don't figure there is too much risk of it turning southward, right?

3. Having a reasonably common name that begins with "J" and never once having a hurricane named after you. There was a cyclone in Australia of my name 20+ years ago, but never a hurricane.

Lol. Exactly.

There’s no justice in the hurricane game.

Not yet, but I'm seeing it will probably stall in NC once it makes landfall and rain for about 6-7 days. So if you have to come back through there you might be impacted.

I'm to the North and it just got done raining for the better part of 2 days. So, I'm concerned a lot of trees will be uprooted by the winds.

Went and got gas for the generator today.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

Now I heard we're expecting 28 or so inches of rain.
Got my water, got my food, three propane tanks, and juryrigged an automatic pump in case the leak we have in the basement is leaking again.
Going to be an interesting week.

Re: Hurricane Florence.

Hurricane Florence is close to hitting Category 5 as it surges toward the US East Coast.

This thing is massive. I hope and pray it doesn't make landfall as a category five.

I expect after the storm hit our Commander in Chief will be doing this.

Too bad Chris Kyle isn’t around to shoot them.
