Nursing Homes(per state) question?

Is there a listing of states that can't take a person's home as part of payment as far as living in a nursing home?

I live in Michigan and was told you are allowed to keep your home but I guess this would be different from state to state.

I'm not ready for a nursing home(not yet but give it time because who know's about my memory loss situation) but my dad is 93 and lives in Tennessee and I would like too know about nursing home rules and regulations concerning that state .

Re: Nursing Homes(per state) question?

It's a Medicaid eligibility issue.
As long as somebody pays the nursing home in full every month from private funds it's not an issue. If a person doesn't have the private funds then Medicaid pays.
In Tenn. a person has to have $2,000 or less in assets to qualify for Medicaid. Everything else must be liquidated to pay the nursing home.
