Here's How America Uses Its Land

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-us-land-use/

There are many statistical measures that show how productive the U.S. is. Its economy is the largest in the world and grew at a rate of 4.1 percent last quarter, its fastest pace since 2014. The unemployment rate is near the lowest mark in a half century.

What can be harder to decipher is how Americans use their land to create wealth. The 48 contiguous states alone are a 1.9 billion-acre jigsaw puzzle of cities, farms, forests and pastures that Americans use to feed themselves, power their economy and extract value for business and pleasure.

No real "story" here, just thought this was kind of interesting and others might too...

I find the way the article scrolls infuriating. I've never seen a site do that before and it annoyed me to no end such that I couldn't finish the article.

I have the everything on my monitor enlarged so I can read it more easily. I usually just have to scroll down a bit. But with that graphic, I can't see the bottom 10% of the image until I've scrolled to the last text box.

Are you on a mobile device? I could see this being a disaster with a four inch screen and 1 GB of RAM.

Works great on a desktop.

On my iPhone it looks great, the text boxes scroll up and the map stays in the middle of the screen.

Maybe iPhones really do suck.

It's all good... that's what keeps this place interesting. Never know what's going to happen.

The forest designation looks underrepresented in the West. A lot of the land that is classified as Ranges/Pasture does double duty as forest land.

I thought it was cool how the picture would change and the caption explanation would appear as you scrolled down.
