Nature Photography Scandal: you can vote!

https://petapixel.com/2018/04/30/a-c...ntest-scandal/

Brazilian photographer Marcio Cabral was disgraced last week after he was stripped of his 1st prize by the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. Judges accuse Cabral of staging his photo using a stuffed anteater.
While the idea of a photographer dragging a stuffed anteater into Brazilís Emas National Park to set up the photo is comic and strange, it gets stranger. The taxidermy specimen he is accused of using belongs to the Park.

I can't imagine why a national park would have a stuffed anteater just sitting around where anyone could grab it.

The photographer claims it's pure coincidence that the anteater in his photo is in the same pose as the stuffed one. Theres a poll, you can study the images yourself, and offer your own opinion.

Some images are staged and composed, imagine that!

This kind of logic could put an end to Facebook, Instagram, Youtube . . .

Those aren't entered in contests with rules, to win money.

Re: Nature Photography Scandal: you can vote!

It’s not a good picture regardless of the authenticity of the anteater.

But yes, the animal must be stuffed. The long exposure necessary to photograph stars (and whatever that luminance is) would require the animal to be still a long time.

Who cares about the anteater, but I had no idea that there were glow in the dark ants!

If the stuffed anteater was from the park...what's the problem.

Did the photog bring it in from outside the park, buying it from somewhere, on his own?

Unless the park wants to file charges that the photog did something wrong, I'm "meh" about this.

From the article, it doesn't look like the same anteater.

Re: Nature Photography Scandal: you can vote!

You can't blame the photographer for not knowing his anteater model had an identical twin...one who'd been stuffed and posed at the entrance to this nature park. Has not this poor anteater suffered enough? First losing his twin brother to the vicious whims of the heartless park proprietors and then being accused of impersonating him when he's just trying to make a living doing some nature poses for visiting shutterbugs.

Poses without a stitch of clothing mind you! I won’t put up with this filthy nonsense calling itself “art”.

Re: Nature Photography Scandal: you can vote!

What happens if the photographer brought his own live anteater? It would still be staged. Is the problem that it wasn't naturally occurring or that the anteater may not have been real?

I agree. The ear looks like a slightly different shape as well. There are also a few other inconsistencies with coloring on different spots.

They're two different animals.

And it's not a good nature photo. It looks staged.

It is obvious the ant eater is undergoing the same treatment/affliction that has struck Lil Kim, Sammy Sosa, and most of the Jackson clan.
