Venmo

Who here has used it. My buddy owed me cash and had a Venmo balance so I signed up and he paid the the 80.00 he owed. Were good friends so Im not worried about a scam but I have no clue where I can use it or who takes Venmo

I haven't used it either but I imagine you can probably just cash out like paypal if you link your bank account.

Re: Venmo

I never heard of this company until now go figure.

It's owned by PayPal. It's free to send money to a friend, but not entirely free if you are using a credit card to send a balance as they will charge you a 3% fee.

Re: Venmo

I've seen more private sellers using it lately since Paypal started cracking down on users making a lot of small transfers using Friends & Family to avoid fees.

Yeah, just link up your bank account and get the money sent from Venmo to your account. Nbd.

Re: Venmo

I was against these instant cash things for a long time, but once I used them, I decided they are really great. Go to a bar with friends and one guy only has a card? No problem, pay his tab and then he can send you money instantly. I use it for fantasy sports, moving money between people.

Re: Venmo

I've used Venmo a few times, quick and easy to use and like Deftones says, nice way to pay back someone when you go out.

I've been using it for about a year. It's easier to send my kid money at college than writing out a check.

Re: Venmo

Venmo works great. I bought tickets in advance for a movie for a bunch of friends so we could all sit together and everyone used it to pay me back when we got to the theater. Simple.

Re: Venmo

Never heard of it. Quick search shows it's not in Canada. Not surprising since the big banks here have been collaborating on peer-to-peer payment tools for 15 years (Interac e-transfer). So, much like with credit cards (chips instead of strips, "tap to pay"), you guys are a little behind.

I used Venmo up until Zelle launched, negating the need for it.

Venmo is like a merging of social media and Paypal

Zelle seems to be quicker than Venmo, which makes it the easy choice.

My understanding is you have to transfer funds from Venmo to your bank, Zelle is strictly bank to bank transfers

I use square cash, venmo, and zelle, depending on who I'm dealing with. I find it easier to have them all installed rather than trying to have people install something they don't have already.

I prefer square cash. No social media aspects to it at all.
