Parents sue 30 year old son when he refuses to move out of their house

New York judge orders man, 30, to move out of family home after parents sue

A judge has ordered a 30-year-old man in New York state to move out of his parents’ house, after a short legal battle.

During the hearing on Tuesday, state supreme court justice Donald Greenwood tried to convince Michael Rotondo, who reportedly moved back home eight years ago, to leave the family home in Camillus, near Syracuse, of his own accord. But Rotondo, who represented himself in court, argued that he was entitled to six more months of living with his family.

Greenwood called this demand “outrageous” and served him with an eviction order. Michael, in turn, called the eviction order outrageous.

Suing their son in state supreme court was a last resort for Christina and Mark Rotondo, who have spent the past few months sending Michael formal letters asking him to leave.

Rotondo said he had his own business. When asked about that further, however, he would only say: “My business is my business.”

Quite sure that playing with his hair like he did while representing himself is contempt of court.

For once, a good use of our glorious court system!

Good riddance to bad rubbish. But feel sorry for the parents who had to go to such extreme measures to boot out their ludicrously entitled son.

Shows that good for nothing slacker who's boss. :: shakes fist ::

Maybe they got what they deserve. Maybe they were bad parents who constantly spoiled their child and now it's biting them in the butt.

How exactly do you think he got so entitled? Blame the parents.

Terrible. This just shows how entitled a lot of young people are in this country. It doesn't appear that this guy is working - was he laid off and/or has he tried to get a job?! He seems like the epitomy of the lazy slacker.

This situation also shows that a lot of people have no shame - i.e., this guy actually let this get to the point where he's in court arguing his case & making himself look like even more of a P.O.S. than he did before this case got national news. WTF?!

I agree these parents are getting what they deserve - they are still babying him

I read the letter they sent their son:

1) they gave him $1,100 to help him get a new place
2) "your father will help you arrange" moving your stuff, etc.
3) "Your mother will help you find a place"

What scares me is they make reference to him selling some of his stuff for money including "weapons"

In a few months they will be telling him "Why don't you ever visit us?"

I expect to see much more of this. I think the current trend in this country towards our youth is don't do anything you don't want to do. Stand up for yourself. Don't take no for an answer from anyone. Ask not what you can do for your country but what your country can do for you. Protest, become violent, etc.. whatever. Your feelings are the most important thing. If you're unhappy then everyone else is failing you.

With that kind of message i'm sure more and more people are going to grow up like this guy. Why do anything when you're told you don't have to?

I noticed that too.

I have a brother who is 55 years old and sponged off my parents and his late wife's disability check for decades. She died in April, the money isn't coming anymore and he's had to actually go to work. Of course, he's a heavy smoker and diabetic and 150 pounds overweight and in terrible shape, and he doesn't know how to do anything that doesn't require him to stand on his feet for an eight-hour shift, but he's backed into a corner so he does it.

My parents enabled him. He moved in with them after his first marriage failed and he used his then-six-year-old son as leverage to get them to support him. They did. My other brothers and I have all been burned financially by him in attempts to shield our parents from being taken advantage of, but nothing stops him. My 92 y/o dad still gives him a couple of hundred a month which my brother now sees as his due, not a favor.

My parents did it to themselves, so even though I hate the fact that he takes advantage of a 92 y/o man, I can't feel too sorry for my dad since he never says no.

Very well stated, and this is the main reason why I have some rather vocal contempt for current society.

This triple-disaster of "never say no" and "don't hurt *my* feelings" and "Yes, I'm entitled to all of that" is going to severely degrade the world we live in, and it already has in the past 20 years.

It is, aside from the financial aspects spiraling out of control, the main reason why I'll never have kids and am not particularly fond of them, the spoiled, entitled brats that 90% of them are.

When I encounter parents bringing up their children well, ie behaving well and considerately in public places, I smile and compliment them, viz "I commend you for raising your children properly." They're quite appreciative when I tell them this, and they deserve the praise.

I'm praising them less often now, although it still happens, and upholds my faith society I have left.

He claims he doesn't have time to get a job because he's been fighting to get custody back of his son. Maybe if he had a job and was on his own he wouldn't have lost custody in the first place.
