Spices that cause birth defects

I saw this at the local store. Every shelf in the spice area was labeled like this.

WTF?

California is adding the warning to coffee.

Re: Spices that cause birth defects

Do those spices contain any preservatives? If not, it must be the pesticides used to grow the spices.

Rule of thumb: Everything in California causes cancer.

There’s formaldehyde in spices? That’s fucked.

Glyphosate causes birth defects, too.

Re: Spices that cause birth defects

Seems like over notifying makes the warnings useless. Kind of like when they classify the drunk guy who pees in a park (or the 18 year old with a 16 year old girlfriend) on the same sex offender list as a sadistic serial rapist

CA has a law that they have to disclose info about those chemicals. You see these labels on EVERYTHING...and you feel like EVERYTHING is trying to give you Cancer.

Yeah, once it gets to the point where warnings like this are on almost everything, people won't even pay attention to them anymore, they just get desensitized.

How will whatever defects I had at birth be affected by adding spices to my food?

Re: Spices that cause birth defects

The State of California likely causes cancer by its "Boy Who Cried Wolf" stance. Their "standard of proof" is extremely flimsy. If it's not proven to cure cancer, then it causes cancer. Everything has warnings, and all but the paranoid ignore. If smoking and a shake of pepper on your food both cause cancer, you may as well smoke (and die).

Re: Spices that cause birth defects

I found the explanation. https://shop.northamericanherbandspi...5-information/

California requires that everything that contains 0.5 microgram of lead to carry the warning. It's far, far below the FDA limits. According to the website, pretty much everything that's grown in the soil has that.

Too bad about that leaded gasoline polluting the environment, huh?

The only solution is to shut California down and evacuate to all the other states.

Well, the second part of your sentence has been happening for a few decades.

The first part. Not so much.

Re: Spices that cause birth defects

I'm reading a long article about the history of leaded gasoline. The companies knew that it was toxic and would have long-term environmental effects. But they fought to suppress that information. And people like Kettering, Sloan, and du Pont got very, very rich.

Consuming too much DVDTalk can cause cancer. That's why we've lost so many posters over the years.
