Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

I was tempted to post this story in Music Talk, but I figured I'm safer here since I won't have to explain what a Funko Pop is.

I went this weekend to pick up some pre-ordered Pops and among them were Steven Tyler and Joe Perry (yep, I like me some Aerosmith). I was supposed to get seven Pops that had come in, but the staff member (who couldn't have been more than 25 years old) had come back with six.

Staffer: (checking computer) Am I missing one?

Me: Yeah, the person who called said both my Aerosmith Pops came in. I've got Steven Tyler here, but Joe Perry's missing.

Staffer: (goes to check with co-worker) Hey, do you know where the Tyler Perrys are?

Sigh. Young'uns.

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

Walmart currently has a bunch of Funko Pops for sale at $4.99 each - picked up the 4 Iron Maidens and 3 Birds of Prey Pops among others.

Hot Topic also has a Buy 2 Get 2 free sale until tomorrow (August 1). Got 4 Minions Pops from this deal.

I finally tracked down these two on Amazon and they arrived today. I'm so happy I got them. Due to the pandemic, I wasn't able to go from store to store looking for them like I normally do. Tell you what, Funko Pops could easily get all of my extra money as they are so many I would love to have. I'm going to stop with Crockett and Tubbs before I go down the rabbit hole of buying everyone I see.

I got those at Ebay

I was thinking of getting the Ice Cube impala figure but it is not in stock or maybe it is now.

Glad I did not buy the 10 inch Air Jordan funko

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

I'm not saying it was my idea, but I requested Miami Vice funko's back in 2017. My favorite TV show as a kid. Here's my email and their response:

I would absolutely die if you made Miami Vice pops of Crockett and Tubbs. Even better, with the Ferrari.

Funko:

Great idea!! So many different looks as well! Classic TV series!! Thanks for the suggestion -- we always love hearing what fans are looking for! There are many factors that influence which figures we're able to create, and certainly a big one is fan requests, so I'll be sure to share yours!

We are incredibly devoted to our Funko community -- you're the reason we all love doing what we do each day!!

Have a great day!!

It should have been common sense to put out Miami Vice figures

Wasn't the King at Burger King discontinued and brought back?

McDonalds should bring back these characters. They were staples of our youth.

The King has been in and out BKs marketing so they don't overuse him (like Flo or the Gecko). The McDonald's characters on the other hand have been phased out after doctors complained that these type of advertising to kids was one of the reasons of the obesity epidemic in the US. I don't know if you notice, but happy meal commercials are almost all but dead as fast food companies are towing the line and preventing any negative backlash of targeting kids to eat their very unhealthy product.

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

Don't they still use mascots or cartoon characters for the sugary cereals ads?

I don't think anybody goes to McDonalds every day or multiple times in one week.

They can't do a current Tyson because they'd have to pay royalties for his face tattoo.

I still have PTSD from getting "stuck" in the stupid hamburger prison thing. I was never stuck but I got extremely claustrophobic the few times I went in.

Funko Pop Elvis Presley Makes His '68 Comeback As a Sparkly Exclusive.

I'm a huge Elvis fan, but not really feeling these. Maybe if his eyes were open.
