I like certain ones of those figures but not all of them. The Batman, Bat Hound, and King Shark are my favorites. Joker and Freeze are okay. I wish I liked Scarecrow more.

Yeah, that's a thing now. Have you seen the horror figures (Jason, Leatherface, Pinhead, etc.) that have MOTU style bodies?

Yeah, they also have the Re-Action lines that are based off of Kenner Star Wars figures.

As I said, I’ve only picked up some random (and cheap) Star Wars ones ... but I’m waffling on that.

So now Funko is basically running out of characters to make pops for that they have to come up with stupid variants. I guess all their corporate people sit around the meeting room and say things like "Hey let's take our old mold of Batman and our old mold of the Joker and make a new pop where one side is half Batman and one side is half Joker. Our customers are dumb and will want to buy it. While we're at it lets do the same with Batman and all his other villains." Then another exec says "Hey I've got an idea too. Let's take the old Batman mold but we'll just paint the whole thing a metalic gold" Then someone else will say "let's do 'em in metalic red and blue too, and we can do the same for Iron Man and Captain America while we are at it."

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

Maybe I should have clarified that I bought it because I enjoy the BTAS episode this version appeared in. My dumbness is just a happy coincidence.

I have that one too. One of my favorite episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.

I wrote that somewhat sarcastically, but they now have a Venom figure wearing a Loki helmet and a Hulk turning into Venom. It's just like the multiple comic book covers and cover gimmicks of the 90's.

But how is that any different than any other toy company?

This looks like the Into the Spiderverse line ... some neat ones in there.

I am going to spoiler it though since it gives away characters in the movie.

You were warned.

It's just way more of an obvious cash grab with Funko pops as it is with the multiple comic book covers and Monopoly variants.

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

Well, my Pop! figure collection has grown significantly in the last week. I think prior to Christmas I had Mulder & Scully, BB-8 and Ms. Pac-Man.

My wife & kids, & family got me almost all of the Ducktales figs for my birthday & Christmas. Launchpad, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby and even the limited version of Scrooge swimming in the gold coins. I see they also make a Gizmo Duck and Magica de Spell. I might have to track those down now.

Then today at a flea market today I ran across this one which I didn't know they made. It was an instant purchase at $10. Looking at ebay/amazon it looks like that was a steal as he's going for $35-$40.

Spider Gwen in Funko's Rock Candy line looks much cooler.

Re: What is the appeal of Funko Pop

I think they're making way too many figures too fast, and it will turn into Funko Poop.
