How bad is your vision? And do you wear glasses or contacts?
So I've seen some guys here mention that they struggle to see movies or TV shows that are shot in dark scenes.
I know one poster mentioned that his vision is getting worse that the differences between 4K and regular 1080p BD are really meaningless. So he says that he's not really interested in upgrading.
So how bad is your vision? Do you wear prescription glasses/contacts? I'm guessing many here probably do since you probably sit in front of a PC/device most of your day.
I do wear glasses. Last I checked without them my vision is roughly 20/70 or 20/80. When I was first diagnosed as being near sighted back in High School, it was around 20/30 - 20/40. So it has gotten a little worse with age.
My glasses are mainly for distance. I cannot see road signs to save my life. I used to, but now it's all blurry.

Fucking shitty, but it's been some years since my last exam, so not sure how bad. I wear glasses.

20/200 at the last check-up. Contacts during the day and glasses in the evening gets me to 20/20. I hate that I'm losing my close focusing ability with contacts or glasses although it gave me an excuse to upgrade to a bigger phone!

Doc wants me to look at getting cataracts removed within the next year. I hate the idea of them messing with my eyes! But clear vision would follow after it's done so I got that going for me.

Recently I've purchased reading glasses. I've been staring at computer screen my whole life and never needed glasses or anything. When I went into the military they said I have superb vision. However as I am getting older stuff I know I used to be able to read easily is starting to become more challenging.

No contacts or glasses here. I don't know what my actual eyesight is, but I've never had issues seeing things.

It's pretty bad. Glasses are necessary.
Fun fact: I hated the way I looked wearing glasses when I was a kid. And was made fun of. So I walked around like Mr. Magoo until I was 22 and more comfortable with my self image. And finally got glasses 10+ years after I should have.

I've been nearsighted since childhood and started wearing glasses around 11 years old. I wore contacts pretty exclusively from 16-35 or so, then just glasses since then. It has gotten worse and now that I'm 50+ age-onset farsightedness is hitting me too. Time for bifocals...

I should have listened and stopped playing with it a long time ago. Now I wear progressive lenses. No hair on the palm, though!

Wore contacts for 25+ years...did everything you are told not to do, wore Acuvue 1-day disposables for a week without replacing, wore weeklies for a month or more, slept in them every night, etc. Never an issue. Got Lasik 8 years ago, vision was 20/800+, after Lasik 20/15. Should have done it a long time ago.
Only benefit of contacts that I miss -- slicing/dicing onions. Never bothered me with contacts in, now I cry like a baby.

Re: How bad is your vision? And do you wear glasses or contacts?
I had terrible vision since childhood and wore glasses from age 6 - 27. Had Lazik surgery at 27 and went glasses free for almost 15 years, then began to have some regression with age. I function pretty well without glasses (I'm around 20/40 or so), but need glasses to drive and see clearly across the room. No glasses for reading or laptop work, but watching tv or going to the cinema is better with glasses.

I am 44 and have been blessed enough to have 20/10 vision my entire life. No corrective lenses as of now.

He’s good, just a little confused.

My vision is good, but I haven’t had it tested in a few years.
No glasses, no contacts, but those dark scenes in movies and TV shows still get me. It’s not a vision problem, it’s a production (either shooting or in post) problem or a equipment problem.
Walking Dead is terrible about this. I forget which season it was, but there was an entire season I barely saw.
I saw Black Panther twice: once in IMAX and once on a normal screen. The normal screen’s projector was under lit and the scenes in the dark were terrible.

I am very nearsighted. My vision was OK until I turned 16, then got bad fast. Like a couple of other people here, it's around 20/200. I usually wear glasses, but switch to contacts if I'm going to a party, see a movie, watch a ball game, etc.

Re: How bad is your vision? And do you wear glasses or contacts?
I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 11 years old.
My last test was on 2016, it looks something like this:
O.D. -7.00 + 2.50 x98 D.V.
O.S. -7.00 + 2.50 x67 N.V.
Not sure what it means, but I'm almost blind without glasses.

Same here (knock on wood). Not sure what my actual eyesight is but no problems seeing things. I work in front of a computer all day and sometimes worry about the strain on my eyes from it but they never really feel tired or overworked by the end of the day. I had to take the eye test last year at the DMV when I had to renew my license and passed without issue. Not sure how much that actually means.

Never had vision issues. I'm glad, though it's a bit strange considering everyone else in my family (both sides) wears contacts/glasses.

Re: How bad is your vision? And do you wear glasses or contacts?
So I had to get my driver's license renewed this last year, and had to do an eye exam on their old viewfinder machine that was probably from the 70s and 80s. I went in really early that day plus something at the DMV was making my eyes water so bad that they said I only passed with one good eye. I have never had any need for glasses or contacts, next time I'll get my license renewed I'm going to an eye doctor for a vision test.

I haven't had a vision test in about 30 years, but my eyesight is fine.
