No, I’m sorry for the post, its bullshit from the Ghostbusters thread. I worried I might have said something I shouldn’t have, especially when you have been nothing but nice to me. I won’t go to this event tonight, I thought it might be good for me, but I can’t do it yet.

FTFY.

If you were truly sorry you would wise up and realize the shit you spew is ludicrous and stop doing it.

No, you have to go. This can be thread of the year, if you go and come back with some good stories.

Damn. I was hoping to read updates instead of going out myself. Oh well.

And yet, you are the one being unemployed, single, and picky.

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

I read your posts on here Bluelitespecial. I think that socializing with people (anyone) might be the best thing for you. Or seeing a psychologist.

While I've never shared your exact position on things (the MTGOW/blue-red pill stuff), we do share a social awkwardness that I've managed to mostly get over in the past five years. My problem was that I never really developed social skills from my teenage years into my 20's (I kind of blame this place ... it's easier to type out thoughts in a post, than it is to develop the wit necessary to respond in conversation).

I was able to do it, mainly by socializing with people in work/business. Still an introvert. Still let a thousand sentences pass through my head before I let one out.

Best of luck! And if you play this thread right - congrats on the Thread of the Year!

I can’t do it right now, its simply not safe, I’ll use this thread when I can actually do something about it.

I still think you'd be better off in a hobby or interest oriented group rather than just a 'singles' group.

I was going to post the DJ Khaled motivational generator for you, but apparently it is dead now. Damn.

Exact opposite, man! You NEED to go and have a drink. Talk to people or don't, but get out of the house and go. Ease into it.

Not safe? What? Stick on a condom and go!

Vibs may be on to something. You might feel less pressure this way.

And just what the fuck is WRONG with cosplay or Renaissance Fairs?

This sort of thing is why I always give you the worst advice I can think of.

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

There's nothing wrong with Renaissance Fairs, I've attended one here in town, but I wasn't attracted to the woman who sent me a message and never replied back.

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

You should go.

Socializing is a skill. Like any other skill, some people pick it up easily. Other people have to work at it. I'm comfortable with numbers, but I had to work at learning to be comfortable with people. When I started, women were creeped out by me. Now they smile.

You need to work at the skill.

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

Its' going on right now, I decided against it. I'm at home eating chili watching The Big Lebowski. I'll ressurect this thread when I can take the chance. There's a speed dating event in March put on by the same group I might try that.

Why is not safe? Are you a undercover FBI Agent who is afraid you will be recognized by someone at the Mixer? If you are not, go brush your teeth, take a few tums and get to that Mixer ASAP!

Re: Should I go to a Singles Mixer?

I get it, I'm kinda socially awkward and an introvert (depending on the situation) but you have to just try eventually. I like to think that I've come a long way since my younger years (shit, I'm married with kids and everything now, I think that's better? Sometimes not sure... ) but I really had to make an effort at first. It gets easier though.

But you do really need to try and adjust your attitude about women if you want to have some success IMO.
