Super Blue Blood Moon the end is nigh

No, it is not Tom Selleck showing his ass on CBS.

Tomorrow morning, around 6:15 local time, we will have a Super Blue Blood Moon. Not sure if this is just Central IL or all over. Local news says this hasn’t happened since 1866.

In typical Springfield fashion, we are expected to have cloud cover to obscure viewing. Every major celestial event is near impossible to see here.

Super

Blue

Blood

Moon

Repent, repent.

We shall see it on the West Coast. If it is a harbinger of doom I'm down wid it.

Cloud cover was fairly thick last night. Hopefully, it'll be better in a couple hours this morning.

Here in NWMO we have what seems like the brightest full moon ever this morning. When I got out of bed about 5am I thought the city had installed a new streetlight or something as it was so bright outside.

It was hard to see, due to clouds and the start of sunrise, but I saw a sliver of a dark red moon.

Re: Super Blue Blood Moon the end is nigh

We got to see it in the western sky. It set before the eclipse was complete. It was a pink moon against a dark blue sky, looking like the cover of a 70s fantasy novel.

We heard all the noise from traffic and wondered if those people had even looked at the moon.

Super Blue Blood Moon was the name of my prog-funk metalcore salsa band. The End is Nigh was our third album. Y'all should check it out!

Took this panorama from my front yard this morning. Pretty sure that's caused by the sun not the moon

Damnit! And our global population had just recently recovered from the near extinction level event the last time this occurred.

I could barely see it through the clouds last night for a few moments while out snowboarding. My son was pretty excited. Just looked like a moon to me.

I got up at 4:45 to see the last sliver fade out as the moon went into total eclipse. It wasnt that interesting but my son really wanted to see it so i woke him up, looked at the moon for 15 minutes and then went back to bed. i fell asleep just in time for my alarm to go off!

I’m in California. I didn’t get up early to see it this morning, but last night at sunset it was incredibly bright and very low so it appeared very big. Really beautiful.

What’s up with those pictures Whysoblu? Did it also do some kind of eclipse? Because last night it was fully full.

^ I'm assuming WhySoBlu's pics were of it this morning around 6-ish as it was coming out of the eclipse.

Re: Super Blue Blood Moon the end is nigh

Got up at 3:45 AM and went out to see it and shoot photos of it here in Fairbanks, Alaska. The temperature here in the hills was only down to -1 F, not bad at all. I messed up on my camera settings and got only a bunch of crap, but my spouse got some great shots. We stayed out until 5:00 AM and then came in the house, threw some more wood in the woodstove and went back to bed.

Re: Super Blue Blood Moon the end is nigh

For some of the questions:

Super Moon = the moon is at its closest point to Earth. It will appear larger and brighter.

Blood Moon = a lunar eclipse; Earth's shadow on the moon makes it appear red.

Blue Moon = the second full moon in a calendar month.

All three of these events occurred at one time last night. (And we couldn't see squat.)

Re: Super Blue Blood Moon the end is nigh

I got a good view of most of the transition. Full moon on my way to work, starting to eclipse as I walked in, and then I took a couple of trips to the top floor of my building to see the rest before it set. Pretty cool, but I'm glad I didn't get up specifically for it.
