No way! If you can't put aside all of history, culture, and your own personal experience in order to look at a random ad, you're the one being racist!

For the 1000th time, thanks Mr. White Guy for telling us minorities what we should & shouldn't find offensive.

And do me a favor, don't fucking PM me to explain myself, as an ethnic minority who's had to deal with all kinds of racist bullshit throughout my lifetime I'm sick and tired of this crap!

Enjoy your fucking color blind white privilege.

I just find him very fascinating. Deeply flawed, yes, a supreme asshole at times, sure, I can't explain it, I just love seeing him in films. I read his autobiography (still sitting proudly on my bookshelf) and I just loved him more. I think that Werner Herzog's documentary "My Best Fiend" shows similar footage of Kinski's poetry readings back in the day, if I recall correctly. Man, I'm really jealous that your mom got to see that!

His work with Herzog is phenomenal, but yea - there's many things wrong with Kinski and from all accounts he was a horrible person. I believe the molestation accusations from his daughter.

That's precisely how satire works.

Re: XLIII Random Pic Thread, The Knights Who Say "Ni!" edition.

OMG! Bahahahaha! I literally almost choked on my drink I laughed so hard at that pic above.

And we all need to lighten the fuck up. There's way too much hyper-sensitivity going on. Even that black kids mom came out and said it was a modeling shoot and they were fine with it... but it fits the agenda of a certain group to further drive a wedge between everyone. Every single kid growing up, black, white, green, yellow, blue is called a monkey by their parents at some point, it's a term of endearment nothing more nothing less. If you want to make it about racism then that's on you, maybe you're the one who's a racist... or hates your own ethnicity.

I need a shirt from H&M that says: "Lighten up Francis!" but then I'd probably be offending all girls named Francis. smh

No it's not. That's how racism works. And that's certainly not satire.

Satire makes a point - that meme just replaces some unintentional racism with abject racism, with no point, only making idiots laugh.

I'm not saying one shouldn't appreciate his work. I don't, but many do. His being an asshole, cad, and molester are separate and apart from his work as an actor. Just as one can appreciate Polanski's films, as I do, while detesting and condemning his child-molesting.
One of the anecdotes of Herzog's from My Best Fiend that stood out to me most was one of the many surrounding the filming of Fitzcarraldo. If memory serves, a man had just been killed on set, and Kinski proceeded to complain that no one was getting him, Kinski, a coffee.
Yeah, my mom worked a bit as an extra in the Hamburg theatre scene around that time. She worked with Gustaf Gründgens, who played the head of the underworld in M, and was the inspiration for Szabó's Mephisto.
