Not many people in this thread know the difference between furthest and farthest. Far is used for distances, so virtually every single response here should say farthest. (signed - the grammar police)

Distance sometimes has little to do with how long a commute is. Around here the average commute from the suburbs into the city is about 20 - 30 minutes. A little less outside of rush hour, longer in inclement weather. That same distance in miles downstate would take twice as long.

45 minutes - but some of that time was traffic.

Re: What's the furthest you've commuted for a job?

Longest commute was an internship I had in Germany where some of the commutes ran over two hours due to the distance. I didn't do it every day as sometimes I stayed at an efficiency apartment in the town where I worked.

I had a job outside of Philadelphia where a good commute was just over an hour (I'd have to leave home at 6:45am) and could be close to two hours if I left at rush hour.

Both of these jobs were temporary and I was childless, so it wasn't a big deal.

My current commute door-to-desk is 50 minutes, which is great.

Re: What's the furthest you've commuted for a job?

Spent about a year and a half driving 120 miles to work after a move (up from like 1 mile). Clean shot on the freeway most days except if there was snow or something. Generally about 1 hr 45 min @ 80mph. A really bad snowy day took me 3 hours once

Drove up Monday, crashed at buddy's place, drove home Tuesday night, worked from home Wed, repeat drive up/drive down for Thur/Fri.

I briefly drove both ways for a couple of months when the wife got a nightshift gig, someone had to be home with the kids, that prompted me job hunting, despite loving my job. 240 miles a day was way too much.

I currently drive 55 miles every day via very busy freeways (Metro Detroit area), I work a bit late to avoid all the traffic, 4 days a week (1 WFH day). An hour drive unless there's an accident.

Have to drive in during peak hours tomorrow morning Could be anywhere from an hour to 2 hours each way, depending on if anyone gets in an accident.
