And all the above is not stuff that I can just tolerate or kind of like, it's all stuff I absolutely LOVE to eat!
I'm a fan of all those except chicken hearts/gizzards (I stop at livers for them).

But tongue . . . I should have listed that. I grew up on it because my stepmom made it, and it's delicious. I have had no luck convincing others, though. My partner refuses to even try it, and he tries all my weird cooking projects Of course, our conversations about tongue are in the grocery store, as in who would ever eat that thing. I should just make it, because once it's cooked, peeled, and sliced, it just looks and tastes like rich sandwich meat.

Oh, and I should add dried anchovy appetizer (myeolchi-bokkum) because it is my very favorite Korean side dish, and lots of people balk at eating whole dried fish. I call it candy fish, and like it either spicy or sweet and spicy. I used to get so disappointed in Korean restaurants for not serving it (the side dishes at most American Korean restaurants outside of big cities are so sad). Now I make it at home--stinks when cooking, but oh so good when done.

If you like escargot you should give chicken hearts a try. When sauteed with garlic and butter, the taste and texture is really close to escargot IMO.

Beef tongue is awesome, once it's prepared it looks and tastes like tender, thin sliced beef. But yeah, cleaning and peeling it is kind of gross though.

Sometimes, yes Lots of intense flavor in the juice I couldn't just toss away. I use the brine mostly for cooking. I'll drizzle some on salad or hummus or use it as a basis for pasta sauce. It's also great for marinating those baby mozzarella balls. Just put them in the jar with some olive oil and refrigerate a few days. Delicious.

Re: Name a food you love that others can't stand.

My spouse detests mayonnaise and I like it. I do mayo instead of ketchup on fries and like a dab on my burger. She hates that our kids like mayo now, too.

I've had the distinct pleasure of introducing several young people to White Castle and almost all of them didn't like it. I can't do it in big doses, but I like a few jalapeno cheese sliders, now and then.

There's something amazing about oatmeal. Wish it wasn't so spendy at restaurants, but if I'm in a hotel with breakfast, you can keep your cup o' waffle mix, I'm headed for the oatmeal.

Most people I know don't like grits, and many won't eat ceviche. I love both of those foods.

I love grits with over easy or sunny side up eggs smushed up in them. I had an Australian girlfriend once who put sugar on them.

Re: Name a food you love that others can't stand.

BBQ Shrimp and grits is one of the best foods out there . . . Can't imagine not liking grits.

Story mentioned oats here. We've started making oat groats--they're kind of like steel cut, but the whole grain. Well worth it to me--I just put them on as soon as I'm up since they take about an hour. I love oats but can't stand the instant, gluey ones.

High-fiber cereals. I legitimately like the earthy (some might associate with cardboard) flavor and coarse texture of stuff like Kashi or All Bran.

That's how I was raised to eat my grits too. Butter, salt, pepper, and a sunny side up egg sliced on top and stirred in. Just had some Sunday.

Good with gravy too.

I think it makes a nice snack at work. Throw some in a resealable baggie and munch on them during the day. I'll sometimes mix with dry roasted peanuts.
