I have no clue as to what the top 10 songs are anymore- whenever I check it's usually some rap crap, and it seems like the 'popular artists' frequently are 'featured' on others' songs now. I don't know if that would be a good or bad thing if artists I like did that (Depeche Mode featuring Bernard Sumner?)

On Casey Kasem's last American Top 40 countdown show before he retired, the title of the #1 song was embarrassingly stupid. I didn't blame him for leaving.

That's how I feel. I have 50-or-so artists that I love. And I tend to add five-or-so per year. It's enough music to listen to till I die. But it leaves me out of the loop on what's mainstream.

Another thing with music, is that there are some no-name and lesser-known artists that I truly love. In film, you generally need to raise $5M or more to shoot something acceptable. With music, you need a couple thousand dollars and you're set.
