So, Freakshakes (Extravagant milkshakes) are a thing?

Clicking around for recipes on youtube I came across Freakshakes. Not quite sure but I think they originated in the UK. This (very popular based on views) lady on youtube seems specialized in preparing all sorts of sweets, and after only watching her Freakshake video I'm going to get checked for diabetes.

Seriously, her creations make Willy Wonka pale. For the curious, in this video she's making Salted Caramel, Coconut and a Choc Mint Whirl Freakshake based on individual KitKat bars and their flavors:

I get the impression these shakes are what people mostly create at home? Has this trend already caught on in the states?

Numerous places in the bigger cities do these for a few years now.

Black Tap in NYC has incredible burgers but they've only become big recently because of shakes like these to the point where the wait to get in is a few hours and they specifically ask if you're just there for the shakes and have a separate line.

Way too much prep time. I would imagine you'd make it once. I would just get an ice cream that matches the flavor you're trying to achieve and add chopped up Kit Kat. Lots simpler and you have a flavorful shake.

I had one in jersey that was rainbow cookie flavored ice cream, with chunks and a gigantic rainbow cookie on it. Pricey and decadent, but would splurge every now and then

How do you even eat one of those? Seems more like an ice cream sundae shake than anything. Looks interesting, but not sure I'd ever want to actually eat one.

I would start with the shake first. I doubt I could eat all of the, admittedly delicious looking, sugar junk attached to it. Seems like one of those shakes could easily feed 2-3 people.

I only watched the first third of the video. A caramel-coated donut dangling from a milkshake doesn't sound like a good combination to me. It's too starchy for the dish. She could just as well have hung a baked potato.

I'm trying to be fair about it. When I was twenty years old, those milkshakes would have looked great. But now that I'm middle aged, when I look at them I get a little queasy.
