Car stereo

So I just replaced my factory touch screen stereo in my 14 corolla for an Apple CarPlay. Do I need to kee the factory radio? What can I do with? Would people buy it?

Re: Car stereo

Are you leasing? You may want to save it for when you sell it.

Re: Car stereo

I'm sure there's a market for the OEM unit but you may need to search it out. Maybe join a car/Toyota forum and see if they have a market section.

Re: Car stereo

I did this with my car and kept it on the chance that I would sell the car some day and would be able to offer it with the sale in case it was important for someone.

Then I didn't bother. But you can get a few bucks on Ebay, I'd bet.

Re: Car stereo

Just put it in your garage. When you eventually sell the car you can keep the new radio and put the old one back in.

That said, the few times I have sold an old car in which I've replaced the radio I just toss the old radio in the trunk as an extra. The "new" radio is always so outdated by that point I wouldn't want it.

Pawn shop. Take the $$$ and be happy. Don't waste time on Ebay or Craigslist.

You can also call LKQ. But I'm not sure if they'd by "one item" from you.

Re: Car stereo

For the first half-dozen times I replaced a head unit in my car, I kept the old one. Same reasons given here; if you sell the car, you can keep the one you bought. I never once did that. I always sold the car with the new unit intact. After that, I just started donating the factory unit. It wasn't worth it to me to try to find someone to buy it from me.

Re: Car stereo

I didn't know people replaced factory units anymore? I thought that died in the 90's?

Re: Car stereo

Pawn shop won't take it unless they can test it. It's not in the car and I don't have the wiring. Lol
