Would that be illegal?

I used to know a guy who told me that he would answer the door naked when Jehovahs Witnesses or Mormons would knock on his door. Seems like any easy way to wind up on the sex offender registry.

Re: "No Soliciting" signs..

Josh,

Maybe a sign on your front door reading:

Warning!

This is the home of a practicing male nudist!
Do not knock or ring bell
unless you want to see things
you won't like to see.

In a similar vein, I just saw a photo on another site. It showed someone holding a small sign (large card?) that read:

Doorknockers
Please Note:

This household charges $50 per minute to listen
to sales pitches, religious messages.
& fund raising stories.

This charge is payable in advance!

By knocking on this door or ringing the doorbell,
you signal your agreement with the terms outlined above.

Re: "No Soliciting" signs..

My wife made this sign for our door. It hangs right above the doorbell, fully visible. They do not bother us anymore.

"NO SOLICITING!

If you are soliciting any services or trying to push your politics or religion on us and insist upon ringing this doorbell, we will let the dog answer the door.

Thank you and have a great day!"

Re: "No Soliciting" signs..

I tried to upload a jpg of this but it couldn't get it to work. It looks better w/ some formatting but here's the text of a sign I found (just swap the code reference for where ever you live... which looks to be CA for the OP).

How many
<b>NO SOLICITING</b>
Signs do you need to read…

…before you realize that NO SOLICITING
means NO SELLING, NO HAWKING, NO
ANNOUNCING YOUR NEW PRODUCT OR
SERVICE, NO INTRODUCING YOURSELF
AS A REP OF SOME BLA-DE-BLA
COMPANY, NO MARKETING, AND NO
SOLICITING!

We don't want your phone service, your exterminating service, your coupon books, our roof
repaired, our driveway refinished, the house painted, the windows replaced, or anything you
are trying to sell or unsolicited service you are trying to provide.

Remaining on the premise is a violation of California Penal Code 602 PC Criminal Trespass.

DO NOT BOTHER KNOCKING OR RINGING THE BELL
JUST QUITELY TURN AROUND AND LEAVE!

Re: "No Soliciting" signs..

They might stand there for 15 mins reading that

Just make a hand-drawn sign that looks like blood was used "Stop. Do not knock or ring doorbell." Make it look like something out of a Rob Zombie movie. Maybe a bloody handprint could be added.

Be sure and get one that says "No Barristers" too. Interrupting my dinner with all their robes and powdered wigs.

Yeah, but the sign can't be too good or you risk turning away the possibilities of sorority girls needing sugar or floor and end up having a massive orgy. From the movies I watch everyday, this is quite a frequent occurrence.

Yeah, but then who's going to make the foam art on top of my latte?

I've heard Beware of Dog signs work well.

Re: "No Soliciting" signs..

We have a No Soliciting sign and it seems to work.

I've also thought that a "Lose Weight now, ask me how - Herbalife" and/or an Amway bumper sticker plastered on the door might be equally effective. Unfortunately that might also drive away invited guests.

It's an easy way to receive a lot of clothing from these types of organizations.

I specifically remember a JW screaming, "Run! Run!"

Reminded me of that scene from Dune with the spice drillers getting back to their ships, because it was done in almost the exact same tone fluctuation...only louder.
