Have you ever posted a photo of food on social media? If yes, WHY?

Have you ever sat down to a meal and decided, I need to take a picture of this meal and post to instagram, twitter, facebook, etc?

I can kind of understand doing that if you actually cooked the damn meal and you're proud of your creating. Or if a friend/family member cooked the damn meal and you want to let people know what a good cook your friend/family member is.

But I don't understand why people do this at restaurants. You didn't cook the meal. You (most likely) don't know the person who cooked the meal. All you did was order the meal. Big fucking deal.

And a lot of times, I see crappy pictures that don't make the meal look all that appetizing. I've seen people post pictures and I'll say to myself, "wow, I'll never eat there" and then realize that not only have I eaten there, but I really liked the food.

Re: Have you ever posted a photo of food on social media? If yes, WHY?

Sometimes it's food I've cooked myself and am "proud" of and want to share. Sometimes it's a local restaurant, and I want to share with my overseas friends (kind of a jerk for making people homesick, I know). Sometimes it's effectively the same as a "check-in" at a local establishment. Sometimes it's a new restaurant I think people might wanna know about. Sometimes the restaurant just makes pretty food. Sometimes it's to show people different cultures. Sometimes it's just because.

Why do you care so much?

No; it is dumb. Sorry to offend all that do but it is dumb. Never once have I cared or wanted to know what a friend or relative was eating at any specific time. Thanks to social media I am now well informed whether I like to be or not.

I've posted pics of ribs or whatever I'm smoking for a holiday weekend. Only restaurant food I've posted is really impressive sushi or chirashi presentations.

We have whole networks devoted to food. Cooking shows have been popular since I was a kid.

Yeah pretty much all of the above. Love looking at food so much I sometimes look at it on my phone for my own enjoyment.
Just like people enjoy looking at pictures of pretty girls on bikini or posting them to friends cause they are freaking delicious

I don't care what other people are eating, but I am interested in what people are cooking.

Why do people care about food?

It's not as important as air or water!

This is Choripan, a South American sausage sandwich with Chimichurri sauce.

Chimichurri: piquant sauce typically containing parsley, garlic, vinegar, olive oil, and flakes of chili pepper.
I have made it at home before is amazing!!

That's because it's stupid. It's also stupid to post pics in the fast food, pizza, and burger threads as well.

Re: Have you ever posted a photo of food on social media? If yes, WHY?

Yes, but I won't post photos of random everyday foods like burgers, fries and such.

I like to post different or unique foods that you can find in smaller hole in the wall places or food trucks.

For me it's a way to share the different cultures out there. A lot of my friends are appreciative when I share something unique that looks appetizing and inquire where it is On some occasions.

Yes I know most people don't care about food pictures just as much as they don't care when someone "checks in" to a restaurant on Facebook.

I stopped checking in when one time my check-in kept surfacing in my friends' feed for a week because that restaurant had purchased a sponsored ad. It turned out that I was the ad.

Re: Have you ever posted a photo of food on social media? If yes, WHY?

I would rather people discuss food on social media than the personal relationship problems that certain people that we all know like to constantly bitch about. So, yes, I post pics of food that I make from time to time on social media.
