Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Saw this in a gas station the other day and tried the original cola. It tasted decent. Little more cola taste with almost some spice mixed in. Hard to describe since I only have had one and that was a week ago.

I am not a Pepsi fan but I found an 8 pack of 7.5oz cans of Pepsi Vanilla w/ real sugar and decided to try them. They are awesome and are suddenly my favorite mass produced cola at the moment.

I like the 1893 Original Cola. Couldn't stomach the Ginger Cola, though.

Been on this kick for about a week.

I need to get back to this though which I had begun to drink a lot more often to give me the soda sensation.

What is the significance of the name "1893"?

1893 is the year that Caleb Bradham began selling “Brad’s Drink” — a concoction of sugar, water, caramel, lemon oil, nutmeg, and other stuff — out of his North Carolina drugstore. That name lasted for five years until being rechristened Pepsi in 1898.

La Croix is not soda. Get that garbage out of here. My wife drinks it and it tastes like if you watered down a regular soda and then left it out for a week. Gross.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

I'm generally not a fan of the 'upscale colas' I've tried over the years, but I really dig the 1893 Ginger Cola. The bite of the ginger compliments the sweetness of the cola. I think it would be a great mixer with a rum.

I've been finding Boylan Creme at my 99 Cents Only store lately. 2 for 99 cents and it's damn good.

Tried these recently. Having a hard time deciding which one I like best. They're all fairly unique.

Funny. I bought some of the Huckleberry over the weekend. It was pretty unique.

Oh wow, Huckleberry Hibiscus! Being Mexican we love hibiscus but also being a huckleberry lover that combination sounds badass.

Define "unique," guys.
By "unique" I was mainly referring to at least the three cream sodas being unique from one another. Each has a distinct flavor despite the fact they're all listed as being "cream sodas". Plus, the cola one was a bit off-putting when I first tasted it, probably because I'm more used to colas like Coke. This one is probably more true to a genuine cola flavor, but it's more lightly carbonated than your major colas. Plus it has the real sugar thing going for it, as they all do.

Warning, though, they're $4.99 for a 4-pack of 12 ounce bottles. I don't know if that's considered normal for drinks like this, but some might find it high.

Odd that they don't seem to have these listed on their website.

That pretty much falls in line with boutique sodas. Of course, it's up to the drinker as to whether it's worth that price. It would be cool if they sold a variety package: one of each flavor in a 4-pack.

That does sound good, especially with the temps getting high.

I hope you soda lovers don't live in Philly.

Soda tax passes; Philadelphia is first big city in nation to enact one
