^^ What a load of PR bullshit!

I've never seen a company try so hard. Reading the whimsical and insulting prose above, I feel like my IQ just dropped 50 points, and I'm being lead out to pasture... Is that what it takes to market a product in 2017? Damn.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Did anybody think Coke Zero was a regular drink (not a "diet" flavor)? I know they claim that, but did anybody really think that? What did they think the Zero was?

So they aren't changing any ingredients, just reformulating what was there. Huh. Either they did shitty testing the first time or they are doing shitty testing this time. Then again, I guess it is what Taco Bell does with their menu.

If Coke is once again being "protective" of its brand and flavors, does that mean we can finally do away with those shitty touch screen machines that destroy the flavor of everything in it?

If that's what you think I said, you didn't actually read and understand what I wrote.

I can completely believe that there are people in this country that didn't know what Zero meant.

No, no, I got you WhoTony (and agree!). My post was in response to the PR bullshit from Coke (posted by DaveWadding). I didn't want to quote that whole thing. Sorry for the confusion!

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

I had a Coke Zero Sugar the other day. I'm more of a Diet Coke guy, but it didn't taste much different from the old Coke Zero to me.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Just had a can of Coke Zero Sugar. I do think it tastes different and less like regular Coke - less flavorful. It also (to me) has that "diet aftertaste" that I never thought Coke Zero had.

I had it out of a Freestyle machine with cherry vanilla syrup and it did taste slightly different. I'm interested to see how it tastes in bottles but that Freestyle mix is what I always get.

Yeah, I had the Freestyle raspberry today and it tasted different, though not undrinkable by any means.

I don't know what it is but the first couple times I had Mountain Dew.S.A. I really enjoyed it but for some reason the last couple times I've had it I can't even finish it. It's not like I drank a ton where I would have gotten sick of it fast either. Maybe just to try it once or twice was enough.

I love the Cherry Vanilla with Pibb Xtra in the Freestyle machines. Unfortunately most places have Dr. Pepper over Pibb around here.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Gas stations around me still have their old Coke Zero stock, but I went to Wing Stop today and they had Coke Zero Sugar in the freestyle machine. I tried it with both Cherry & Vanilla, and then later with Raspberry.

I like it. Definitely tastes different than Coke Zero... and a bit more like the real thing. Didn't do an A/B comparison though. I was with co-workers and didn't want them to think I was losing it.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

I'd love to do an A/B/C comparison someday. Coke, Coke Zero, Coke Zero Sugar.

I don't consider Freestyle an accurate gauge as the mixture/taste seems random from location to location and day to day.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

I'm surprised there's so much love for Coke Zero. I tried it a couple times because so many claim it tastes like regular Coke. I have to call bs though as it tastes no better than most other diet pops to me. It doesn't have the same taste exactly as Diet Coke but I still don't like it. The only diet pops I've ever been able to somewhat tolerate are Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew.

I just think it tastes more like regular Coke than Diet Coke does.

Coke Zero is gross. I much prefer Diet Coke.

Definitely and doesn't have that typical diet soda aftertaste.

Any diet/zero pop has that horrible fake sugar taste to me. Maybe the Coke Zero didn't have it as bad but it still wasn't for me. I tend to get headaches from those artificial sweeteners I swear. I almost never feel good if I try one.

That's because Diet Coke is based off the New Coke formula, IIRC.

Re: slop101's Official Soda / Cola Thread!

Coke Zero is the best alternative to regular Coke for me. If I had my choice I'd be guzzling full-sugar Coke like I used to for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack. Alas, that's not healthy for me at all. Nothing mimics the regular Coke, I taste all aftertastes, some not as bad as others.

Plus, with diet Coke versions not tasting as good as regular prevents me from becoming addicted. I can have one with a meal, or when I want a cola taste and strong fizz and be done. Otherwise I'm good with La Croix and other sparkling waters.
