What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

What ethnic cuisines do you all enjoy that you either make at home or when you choose to eat out?

Me personally, I enjoy Thai, Mexican and some Chinese. Although in So. Cal there are more bad Chinese than good ones.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

Indian (primarily northern, as most of the restaurants here only have a few token southern dishes like dosa), Vietnamese, and Ethiopian top my list. Having grown up in south Florida, I would also kill for good (or even average) Cuban food up here...and, no, a ham and pork sandwich on flatbread doesn't count.

My wife is Cajun, so we eat a lot of that at home, but it's extremely difficult to find live (Louisiana!) crawfish, crab claws, and tasso up here.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

I'm really into the Greek/Mediterranean stuff.

I eat lots of Sushi, Mexican, and a good bit of Chinese/Asian food.

I eat all the other stuff too. But not as much.

Right now, I'm dieting and mostly gulping down protein and meal replacement drinks. Mmmmm.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

I'd have to say French, followed closely by Italian, then Indian.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

I'm kind of a foodie, and I don't think there's any I don't like.

Vietnamese in the summer.

Korean in the winter.

Thai and Chinese are always good, as are French and German.

I'm not a big sushi guy, but I love Japanese hotpots and teppanyaki grills.

I love Indian because to me it's just a totally unique cuisine.

Brazilian barbecue kicks ass.

Mexican has a great range of flavors and textures---a great mole sauce is one of the greatest things in the world, IMO.

I'd probably have to put Italian at #1, though.

For ones I don't like, maybe Greek? Just in that I don't really care for lamb or feta cheese. Still, I'm sure I could come up with a ton of Greek dishes I like.

I don't have a lot of experience with Middle Eastern or African, but what I have had I've liked.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

Foodie as well here and I like all of the above. Special place in my heart for Edomae style sushi (as opposed to the ubiquitous newfangled rolls). Also love Korean food, especially with lots of panchan side dishes. And I could eat tofu soup (suntubu) every day in the winter.

I like everything. Here in Northen VA, Kabob restaurants are pretty popular. We have Pakistanis, Afghanistanis, and Iranians opening up restaurants everywhere.

Very little I don't like and enjoy eating most things and most cuisines.. My wife is Filipino so I'll say that because it hasn't been brought up yet.

Italian. Hoping to get back there within the next 5 years and love there again for a while. And that food is everywhere.

Love me some Hawaiian, among the others I voted for. Could probably eat Kalua Pork and mac salad every day. I would die fat and happy after a very short time.

Show your support for your favorite ethnic cuisine by posting a picture of it in the "Post a pic of you dinner" thread.

I don't think SoCal is the only place with bad Chinese. In general, I think there is more bad than good Chinese.

My local Dillon's (Krogers) actually has pretty good Chinese. At least they use white meat in there chicken dishes.

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

Anyone else here enjoy Rasmalai, an Indian dessert of cottage cheese "pucks" dipped in spiced milk? At first I found the spices somewhat off-putting, but I have come to like it a fair bit. It's extremely sweet and tasty.

Came in here to see if Italian was on the list of “ethnic” cuisines and the list did not disappoint.

Someone must have bumped a DVD Talk thread from 1954.

This thread needs a trigger warning due to the rampant cultural appropriation. Where is my safe space?

Re: What is your favorite ethnic cuisines?

I voted "Indian" but what I really meant is the bastard product of that Anglo-Indian cuisine, the takeaway curry. I could probably eat vindaloo for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and never tire of it.

I'm surprised German isn't listed. Nobody likes schnitzel and bratwurst?
