Yeah, that is a good way to look at it. Make sure you keep your expenses low and not go crazy.

Pretty sure I've read that random numbers come up far more often than those for people that pick birthdays, special numbers, etc.

It just has to do with the shear improbability of having the 1 in 292 plus million combinations come up. Most people play the lottery when it starts creeping up to the hundreds of millions and they usually just get random numbers. So, the odds are in their favor that they will win with random numbers. I have done both in the past month and haven't won shit. You play the game just to be able to dream. Hell, I have spent more in plenty of months on dvds and blu rays than I likely will in an entire year playing the lottery. Maybe the balls will bounce my way.

Pffft... of course not. A few weeks ago during the Billion dollar PowerBall draw my ticket came up a winner, but you still see me posting here.

$4 is not enough to keep me away from DVDTalk. Now, if y'all want to take up a collection, I'm willing to see how much cashola it WOULD take for me to retire from the site.

I would hire a full-time assistant to login to DVDTalk and post smart-assed comments for me.
So if (or when) it happens, no one here will be the wiser.

I would purchase DVDTalk, fix it so that when you delete a post it takes you to the end of the thread instead of the beginning, and then sell it back. I don't care if I take a loss or not.

I'd purchase DVDTalk and make it impossible to delete posts.

I would buy DVDtalk and ban anyone who used proper grammar.
Money is nice, but I would just end up buying more crap I do not really need.

I have finally been getting two numbers on at least one of my tickets on each draw. Now it is time to move up to 3 and then work my way up.

Two brothers each won a recent Powerball lottery. One brother won $291M. One brother won $7.

This current iteration of our pool has 40 members. Which means the cut is anywhere from 250k to 1.5mill each - depending on the size of the jackpot that week (Canadian jackpots are nowhere near the size of Powerball).
Everyone puts in $10 upfront, and I use a portion of the pool money every week. Usually each iteration of the pool lasts around 12-15 weeks - so it costs everyone less than $1 a week to have some hope.
And no, we haven't won yet.

I take a picture of the tickets and e-mail them to all members before each draw, as well as provide the current balance let in the pot. Even if I wanted to embezzle from the pool, there's an e-mail trail that would burn me.
I run my pool with total transparency. I'd make a terrible politician.
