Maybe I was wrong but I don't think so

So I go to the post office today to mail a bluray.

I park, go in and see no one in line.
There is a stack of priority boxes stiing on the table leading towards the
register. There is someone at the counter mailing a package
I'm next or so I think.

A man and a woman walk in with another stack of boxes, he walks right past me and says, "I'm already in line."
I just looked at him with an okay whatever look.

Counter guy calls next and the guy grabs some boxes and goes up.
I toss my one bubble bag on the table next to the rest of his boxes.

He bumps my package while picking up the rest of his to go to the counter.

I didn't say anything but he said "sorry" for bumping my bag.
His female muttered "that's rude."
I didn't say anything.

He looked back to me and asked if anything was wrong.

I said "well since you asked, I came in, no one was in line so I figured here I am first in line, Then you come in and walk past me and declare you are next ahead of me.

He just said he was already there before me.
I said "whatever but maybe one of you could have come in and stood in line while the other got the boxes".

He said he had to hold the door.

I just said "whatever" and he said yeh whatever and his female repeated it too.

If It was reversed I would have come in with my boxes, seen someone already standing there with the one parcel and just let it go.
I wouldn't have had the gall to walk right past someone and declare myself first in line with about 20 parcels to that persons 1.

Have to remember, this is the time of year when nerves are tested and most actions are clusterfucks.

If those boxes were indeed his, I would've just let them go ahead. It's not that big of a deal.

If I was in his shoes I would've realized I lost my place by not having someone there and let you go ahead. You only had the one bag.

In real life I use the self-serve kiosk.

I did let him go ahead. Didn't have a choice as he walked right in front of me.

No self serve at this location. We go there because there is never a line. The one with self serve always has a line to the door and the ss machine only does priority and doesn't allow for media mail.

He should have let you go ahead with your single parcel, but it sounds like you were both kinda being dicks.

It's Christmas. It ain't worth the stress.

I call bullshit. The PO has to be wheelchair accessible which means it should have an automatic door with push button.

No reason for a big scene or fight of course, but from the sound of it you were absolutely in the right, and if it had been me I would have just gone to the clerk first and taken care of my business. You were there, he wasn't. End of story.

I saw the thread title and immediately glanced at the OP wondering if it was another Mabuse tale.

And way to include Mabuse and Arnie in the poll.

You're wrong just because you voted on your own poll to skew the numbers.

My PO doesn't have handicap acceisibility and if your in a wheelchair it is harder than hell to get into the PO, you have a ramp but the doors are literally like 2 feet from a flight of stairs

Re: Maybe I was wrong but I don't think so

A woman bid and won my ebay auction yesterday. No payment or communication until 8 hours after the auction ended.

"Please realist a emergency came up took almost all my check I'm sorry for the inconvenience"

Not sure exactly what she meant by this, I replied:

"I'm not too sure if I understand your message. If an emergency took almost all of your checks then you still have some checks left. At any which way, I'm expecting you to pay through Paypal. Should I expect a payment from you or not? At the end of day Dec. 15, if there is no payment made I will proceed with reporting you to Ebay. You had plenty of time to cancel your bid but you left it anyway. Good luck,"

She then replied:

"Do what you got to do I don't know how people like you can live with yourself"

Yup, apparently I'm the asshole in this situation. Who knew?

There should have been more non-locals and yelling in the story.
"No mail for you today!"

I think you're in the wrong just for trying to mail something. I worked for the post office for a few years when I was in college. I won't mail anything unless it is a last resort. I may have mailed five things in the last decade.

I took her message to mean the emergency took almost all of her paycheck, not number of checks in checkbook.

Re: Maybe I was wrong but I don't think so

I don't see the big deal as far as the situation, there were boxes there so its not like he was lying about being there originally and leaving to bring in more stuff. Seems like they could have been more polite about explaining it, and you could have been more polite in your response too. I probably would have let him go since they were obviously were actually there first and with no one else there thought it was fine to leave and get the rest of their boxes. I don't think you were out of line though, but neither were they.

That said, Mabuse it up!

Normally, a USPS Employee picks up on this screwy situation and let's everyone know there is somebody going to their car/out of the building/wherever to get the rest of their packages and to continue on until that person gets back. I've had some great USPS people do this and give me a heads up...some don't.

But since there was two of them, yes, I would think one person should have held the place in line or told a USPS employee what was going on. It's hard to tell these days, and I've seen packages left on counters for a long time, thinking somebody was coming back for them, and then I'm told to move along.

Damned if you do...damned if you don't.

They punked you. No worries, though. You don't want to fuck around at a post office, because it's a federal offense if you get into a physical altercation.

I usually get the one that DOESN'T. I remember last year at Christmas time I had a small item to mail and a pre-printed paid postage label, but wasn't sure what Priority Mail box/envelope I was allowed to ship it in. I waited in line almost 30 minutes to get up to the counter, the employee pointed me to the right box (directly behind me in a small post office) and then made me get back in line a second time instead of allowing me to grab it, put the item in and allow him to tape the label on (which would have taken all of 10 seconds).

Just FYI: I didn't wait another 30 minutes. I left and headed off to another post office about 3 miles away, knowing exactly what kind of box I'd need.
