When is the potentially slightly less crappy quarter pounder coming out?

I read articles about a month ago saying McD's was going to increase the size of their Quarter Pounder, change the shape, and cook the bun longer, within about 30 days. But I haven't seen any sign of that happening and Google isn't helping.

The change "improves the taste, texture and appearance of the burgers" since the "patties retain more moisture resulting in a juicier and more flavorful burger,"
Anyone bought a quarter pounder lately that can report?

Will this be the change that makes McDonald's great again, restoring our country's standing in the world and getting ISIS to finally see the good in us?

Very exciting changes

McDonald’s making a bigger Quarter Pounder
Published June 29, 2015FoxNews.com

McDonald’s is looking to increase burger sales by beefing up its Quarter Pounder.

According to an internal document obtained by CNBC, the chain will be rolling out a new patty next month that weighs 4.25 ounces before cooking and also has a different shape.

The current McDonald’s Quarter Pounder patty starts out at four ounces pre-cooking and shrinks to about 2.8 ounces before it's assembled on a bun. In the memo, McDonald’s also details “new assembly” procedures for the burgers to make the searing on the meat more visible and toast the buns for longer.

They're rolling it out. Which means they're starting out by putting it in the Podunk McDonald's to see how it does.

How are they going to roll it with a new shape?

It isn't the size of the burger that bothers me, it's the taste. For shame, Thor!

1/4 is 1/4 ... Make it bigger and it is no longer a quarter of a pound.

I'm still waiting for all day breakfast.

Incorrect, my good sir! A quarter-pounder is just a trademarked sandwich name that McDonalds has on their menu and sells at its restaurants. It does not denote, in any way, a particular size or weight of their burger/sandwich.

How do I know? Just ask Subway and their footlong sandwiches.
P.S. Don't ask them about that Jared guy though. He has been Hulked-out.

So you've gone from quarter-pound burgers to quarter-ounce tacos!

Don't forget that every receipt has a survey for a b1g1f quarter pounder.

That would be great if they actually changed the name to the slightly less crappy quarter pounder.

It's like they mentioned in the movie Pulp Fiction that France calls it the Royale with cheese since they use the metric system. Quarter-pounder is just the USA name.

Re: When is the potentially slightly less crappy quarter pounder coming out?

Actually, I know of at least two other metric countries that call them quarter-pounders (Canada and Japan), so it's definitely just a trademarked sandwich name and not just in the US. I wonder if QT just made up that "Royale with Cheese" shit.

I wondered if it was made up too, so I googled it, and apparently it is half-true. It is actually called "Royal Cheese" not "Royale with Cheese."

"Quarter Pounder" vs. "quarter pounder." Technically correct vs. Technically incorrect. (meaning you are right in one sense, but not in another)

Re: When is the potentially slightly less crappy quarter pounder coming out?

The current quarter pounder is 4 oz prior to cooking. Which also happens to be a quarter of a pound. But yeah, it will be weird to increase the size and still call it a quarter pounder.

So when they phase it in, what's it look like on the menu/signage? Are they just doing it and not saying anything, or are they promoting an improved quarter pounder where it's been rolled out (which would be really stupid). Are they offering variations like with their angus disasters or just sticking with the classic?

I wonder how much the price is going to increase for this slight courtesy. In other words, McDs will be 'justifying' a hefty increase for the product we should have had all along!

How does increasing the size slightly, toasting the bun longer and changing the shape make it the product we should have had all along?

I would think making it taste good would be making it the product we should have had all along.

Make it 4.5-5 oz pre-cooked so that it's 1/4lb after cooking. "Slightly larger" and still technically a 1/4 lb.

You, my good sir, are incorrect. 1/4 lb is the weight of the patty before cooking. That's how it got the name Quarter Pounder.

It would take 5.7oz to cook down to 4 oz at the current proportion. That's more than your standard 1/3 pound burger at a lot of restaurants, and probably too big for something you want to sell at high volume.

The Whopper is 1/4 pound as well.

You're better off offering a Double Quarter Pounder as an option than making your core burger too large for some people.

It sounds like the objective is to retain moisture and flavor, which is a problem with their current 4 oz version and present cooking standards. The e-coli outbreaks make it pretty tough to undercook a burger in fast food.

If it turns out better than their Angus attempts (which were incredibly dry and flavorless) then it could be a good thing.

Re: When is the potentially slightly less crappy quarter pounder coming out?

I still think Wendy's got them beat. Maybe it's because when I have Wendy's I imagine I'm eating Wendy's vag. But nevertheless, her patty is the most juicy one of all fast food chains.
