Get Your Wallets Ready - Here Comes Amazon "Prime Day"

Amazon's 20th Birthday Party Will Bring "More Deals Than Black Friday"

Get your credit cards ready. Amazon says that it’s celebrating its 20th birthday with what it’s calling Prime Day, a massively discounted 24 hours of shopping which will feature “more deals than Black Friday.”

The “global shopping event” will only be available to Amazon Prime customers, and even then it will only happen in he US, the UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, and Austria. It will take place on July 15th, kicking off at midnight ET.

There are no details about what kinds of offers will be available, but Amazon does explain that there will be “new deals starting as often as every ten minutes.” Brace yourself for an intense day of retail therapy.

Re: Get Your Wallets Ready - Here Comes Amazon "Prime Day"

This will be interesting, considering most of the great deals Amazon has had in the past few years, including Black Friday, have largely been them price matching other stores.

amazon sales are shit anymore...I mean they have good prices but not amazing prices like they did a few years ago. I honestly doubt this will be amazing. I will still keep an eye on it...

By whether or not you pay them $100/year to be one.

Do you fork over $99/yr (or less if you're a student) for free two-day shipping?
Do you get access to their streaming movie/tv service?

More than $99, if you want a hooker to do it on your chest.

I've currently got free Prime through my AmEx card. I'll keep an eye out for decent deals.

Re: Get Your Wallets Ready - Here Comes Amazon "Prime Day"

Most products can be bought on Amazon at a 4% markup.

Little known fact for you bargain people: Amazon bans users for selling cheaper on other marketplaces. However, everyone does it, to where it's hard for them to control. If you see a seller with an item for $200, you can likely buy it on their website for $170 (as Amazon's fees are 12%-20%, dependent on category).

Good luck finding the loss leaders! Should be fun!

I might open another account to get some good deals only to have them sent out in bubble mailers and when I try to return the items have the account closed again.

Haha. So true.

Or you get a heavy item with a bunch of popped air bags and a torn open box.

I know what you mean! I went to my local Target, looking for their Christmas sales, but nothing caught my eye.

Yeah, I hate it when sale prices aren't met a week before the sales.

That does help explain the general rise in prices from the Super-D backed chain of media sellers across the Internet. Their prices have never been the same since Amazon hiked fees, even on different sites.

I don't pay that so I'm not a prime member. Thanks. No need to pay any further attention.
