What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

I've been to the following:

China
Hong Kong
Macau
Thailand
Singapore
Malaysia
Japan
South Korea
Taiwan
Australia
New Zealand
Vietnam

I just got back from 2 weeks in Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam and had an absolute blast. As you can tell, I love traveling to Asia. Vacations there are much more affordable and appealing than going to Europe. But, I would like to make it to Europe at some point. Just don't know if I could really afford a great time there without staying in some cheap 2 star dump. I spent an average of $50-70 per night for hotels on my recent trip and they were all 4-5 star hotels. I know I would have to cough up much more to stay in that kind of comfort in Europe.

Been to Hong Kong 8 times in the last 15 years and love going there. Even though it's technically part of China, it's by far my favorite.

Next year I'm thinking about heading to Shanghai, Bali and maybe the Philippines.

What about the rest of you?

Aside from the U.S.:
Mexico
Canada
France
Germany
Austria
Netherlands
France

I absolutely loved Paris. I'd love to go back and spend more time at The Louvre. Seeing all the castles around Europe was also pretty cool.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

Florida.

(It might as well be a different country...)

Serious answer though, outside of the US, I have only been to Canada. International traveling doesn't appeal to me much.

I would love to go to Paris and even England for my first trips to Europe. But, affordability would be a key factor. On my recent trip to Asia, I spent around $2700 for hotels and air fair for 15 days. And that was for 4-5 star hotels. I don't know if I could achieve that in Europe.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

Let's see, I've been to:

Japan
China
England (x4)
France (x4)
Spain

As part of my job as a professor, I've taken student groups to these places.

This past May, I took a group to London and Paris for 11 days, then sent them back and hopped a plane to visit my brother and his family in Madrid for 5 days. Our day in Segovia was the highlight of that trip!

This last time in Paris, I also took my first trip to Versailles. That was an amazing place... the true definition of excess!

Of all of the places I've traveled, I've loved Paris the most. Wonderful city. Wonderful food. Wonderful art!

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

Taiwan
Germany
Australia
Mexico
Korea

I think that's it, Germany and Korea were for work, Australia was for the Olympics, Taiwan was for family, and Mexico was just visiting when I was young. Korea was probably my favorite of all of them. I'm probably going to a few countries in Europe for a Honeymoon next year, aiming for France and Italy.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

Japan--as an exchange student
South Korea--as a soldier
Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas as a tourist

My favorite was Japan. I'd really like to go to the UK and Scandinavia someday, probably by taking a transatlantic ship to get there.

Italy
Austria
France
Spain
Morocco

France is great either cross country or at the coast line. Even though they have weird huge flying bugs but my favorite was Spain. We went near the Portuguese boarder a few times. Amazing beaches, but I liked the beaches and small towns better near the French boarder. So rich with character and culture.

I went to Australia back in 2003. Went with a buddy of mine and we both had an awesome time, but yes it was super expensive. Didn't help that at the time (before Internet travel booking took off) my travel agent booked probably some of the more expensive hotels in Sydney and Melbourne. I stayed right next to the Sydney Harbor bridge and stayed right in the middle of Chinatown in Melbourne. Each place averaged around $200/night

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

I've gone on a few cruises, so lots of little countries (at least, most of them are countries) - besides the US

Mexico (lots of times)
Canada (lots of times)
Belize
Honduras
Antigua
Saint Lucia
Grenada
St Kitts
Aruba/Bonaire (I think these are part of Holland now)
Barbados
Dominica
Venezuela
Italy
Spain
Portugal
England
The Netherlands
Germany (As an exchange student, and technically it was two countries when I went there)
France (barely)

Most of those I've barely been to, the only ones I've actually spent the night in are Mexico, Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.

September I'm going to Belgium, France, Austria, and Germany.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

US (Boston, NYC, Baltimore, Virginia, Washington DC, Detroit, Buffalo)
Mexico (mainly the Riviera Maya)
Cuba (Varadero, Holguin and Cayo Coco)
Dominican Republic (Punta Cana)
Paraguay (lived there when I was younger)
Brasil (Sao Paolo, Rio, Santos)
France (Paris)
Spain (Madrid)
Slovakia (Bratislava)
Czech Republic (Prague)
Austria (Vienna)
Hungary (Budapest)
Poland (Auschwitz)

I'm hoping to go next year to London, Paris and Barcelona. My favourites cities were Vienna and Paris. For nightlife, it has to be Prague.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

CONCACAF:
United States
Kentucky
Canada
Mexico
Jamaica

UEFA:
Netherlands
England
Wales
Ireland
No. Ireland
Spain
France
Andorra

AFC:
Jordan
Bahrain

My favorite, hands down, was Wales. Beautiful scenery, wonderful people, hot blonde travelmate, tasty beers. Loved Chepstow Castle! Want to go back sometime to tour Cardiff, Pwllmeyric, and Portmeirion - I'm a Doctor Who/Torchwood/Prisoner junkie. Jamaica is a distant second, mostly from the five trips I've taken to participate in the annual Little Feat takeover in Negril.

Last major trip was to Ireland/No. Ireland last Spring with my kid to tour with a friends' Irish band. Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Donegal and Galway. Next major trip is Spring after next to follow the same crew to Scotland.

Canada

Hungary

I liked them all (in Europe), but Czech Republic might have been my favorite. We stayed in Karlovy Vary, great city as was Prague Nice countryside, generally nice people, good food, and as a bonus really cheap

Add in the laugh of driving into Czech from Germany, we get into the Czech Republic and enter the town of Jáchymov (I shit you not). What made it funnier is the primary building in Jáchymov visible from the road is a , you guessed it, whore house with two girls at the bottom of the driveway trying to bring in customers.

Re: What countries have you traveled to and which is your favorites?

Just spent the first week in June on a hiking tour in rural Ireland. 12-15 miles a day of spectacular scenery, nice Irish pubs and family-run B & B's at night (and a day in Dublin, as well). Really nice people, and a completely awesome country to visit. And cool sports, too---hurling kicks ass!

Countries I visited in my younger days:

Canada (dozens of times, live near the border)
UK
Denmark (lived there 6 mos)
Norway
Sweden
West Germany
Soviet Union
Italy
Switzerland
Austria

..I guess you know you're getting old when you've visited some countries that don't exist anymore.

Yeah, I have been to both and never had any thoughts of similarity.

Some of my favourites, aside from Catalonia, would be The Basque Country and Mongolia, (except the cities).
