Name something that's not on the internet...but should be

I often look for obscure films and TV shows on IMDB and sometimes there's no entry for them. I keep a file of titles in my collection that are "Not on IMDB."

Sometimes I google old classmates and find absolutely nothing on them. They have zero presence on the web.

However, what really surprised me was when I went to look for the lyrics of an old radio jingle, a song used to advertise the clothing store, Robert Hall, back in the late '60s. (We had a joke in our neighborhood: "You wear clothes from Robert Hall. Robert throws 'em out and you haul 'em in.")

The jingle went like this:

"I want to look like an American, when America looks at me/
Don't want to look out place dressed in satin and lace/
I want to look the American way."

Now I'm quite certain there were more lyrics than that, but that's all I can remember. Yet when I looked on the web? Nothing.

What kinds of things have you looked for on the web that you were surprised you couldn't find?

Photos of pretty women in very little clothes. I'd like if the internet had that.

Actually I like to do historical research for my area. There's several businesses and buildings that have come and gone over the years and I know there's hundreds of photos of them that people have but there's like no common place for people to request or upload photos of something long past.. I mean that's generally known anyhow. So there's a place out here that's been gone a long time and unless I watch an episode of Knight Rider and catch the 5 seconds where he pulls into the parking lot - there's no other photos of it.

Re: Name something that's not on the internet...but should be

Two specific 1970s radio commercials: One aired in the Bay Area for a clothing store called Hastings, and was one of the first things I remember hearing- ever. Had a jingle with an all-male chorus singing "Hastings, the store in a class- by itself!" It was when I couldn't sleep and my dad brought the radio into my room and let me listen to it. Another one from the later 70s which was a lot more common nationwide, yet isn't anywhere to be found- it was for Midas and had a jingle with a loud engine and singing "Next time you hear that noise, don't compromise- Midasize!" I asked on a radio-industry board if anyone had a copy of these, but nobody replied.

From the same night mentioned first, I also remember a very creepy (to a 3-year old) sounding station ID jingle for KSFO- just some weird notes with the DJ talking over it. There's jingles from that station from other eras, but not that one. (Only song I remember from that night was Top of the World by The Carpenters.)

I WAS pleasantly surprised to find this however:

How about an open forum for drivers to put other driver's behaviors online based on plate number? Say on your way to work, jerk driver plate 355-PLK cut you off because he/she didn't check his/her blind spot. You make an entry online based on the plate number, location and a brief description of the offense. So after 50+ entries, your local motor vehicle agency sends a warning to the registered owner. After 100+ entries, actions are taken, points are taken.......etc. There is simply no feedback platform to offending drivers, so stupid drivers are amongst us blending in. We need to single them out so if there is a clear trend of idiots not checking their blind spots, we mount four fucking side mirrors on their car. Fucker, I"m in your blind spot!! Turn your fucking head!

A few years back I searched out D'Agostino's and Thuman's jingles I remembered as a kid, surprisingly I couldn't find anything.

Re: Name something that's not on the internet...but should be

The problem with finding old stuff on the Internet is that you need the following:

1. People need to actually have the information/knowledge/material.
2. If 1, those people need to care enough about it to take the time to do something with it.
3. If 1 and 2, those people need the technical savvy to actually make it available to others.

I have a fair amount of old shit, but I don't care enough to take the time to Youtube it, blog it, Wikipedia it, or whatever. I might do something randomly if it strikes me.

I don't like his wife because I'm pretty sure she wants to leave. She's pretty but should be nicer to him.

Like I said in the OP, I have a lot of films and TV shows that are not listed on IMDB (and some not anywhere on the web) and since I have an account with IMDB and review regularly there, I should be able to simply add info on these films to IMDB. But I like the idea of holding onto some information that the machines don't have.

There's a Sam the Sham (no Pharaohs) song that I'm forgetting the title of at the moment. As far as I can tell it's never been released on a CD or digitally. I've thought about just shooting a video of my record playing and putting that on YouTube.

She should heed his cries of "Baby, hold on to me."

I could go for a television advertisement for the 'Suckerman' toy from the late '70s. Been searching for it every couple years and still nothing.

Sounds like you're part of the problem then.
