Bud Light, the rapey beer

So Bud Light is getting blasted for their rapey slogan "The perfect beer for removing 'No' from your vocabulary for the night"

http://gawker.com/bud-light-puts-no-...oti-1700918736

How the hell does this get approval? This was clearly not Don Draper's idea...

Re: Bud Light, the rapey beer

Ironic, because "No" is the first word that comes to mind when someone offers me a Bud Light.

As in, "No thanks, I'll have a beer instead."

Yeah. I get what they were going for but they didn't really think this one out too much.

Anyone else get the feeling that "outrage" has turned into a hobby for some people?

Is getting someone so drunk they lose the ability to say no a responsible thing for a beer company to endorse?

Is this true? Did that label actually make it to stores? Every word on a label for alcohol has to be approved by a government agency. They are super strict about what is stated.

“Good people drink good beer. Just look around any public barroom and you will see: Bad people drink bad beer. Think about it.”

- Hunter S. Thompson

(...and as Christianity tells us that all men are sinners, that would explain why I sometimes enjoy a Heineken at a large sporting event.)

That's one hell of a jump to rape rape.

Re: Bud Light, the rapey beer

If you're reading what it says on the bottle during your night of hard partying, there is probably no woman in your vicinity for you to rape.

I'm getting tired of beer snobs. I am a music nerd, I love vinyl and high quality digital files, but I don't go around saying "Oh, you're listening to a lossy format? Lame..."

Re: Bud Light, the rapey beer

With beer its all about the quality of ingredients and how well its made. Same as with most foods/drinks. Budweiser can make good beer, but they use lowest quality ingredients including substitute ingredients. I don't think its snobbish to want beer made with barley not with corn and rice. More of a personal preference because those things taste different.

No question! I like a variety of beers, but I just don't get the need to piss on someone else's choice.

I didn't realize finding pictures of hipsters playing vinyl records outside a cafe wasn't hard.

As soon as they figure out how to loot Amazon or Overstock.com, they'll "protest" internet blogs too.

Right now its more fun to break glass windows than Microsoft's.

Re: Bud Light, the rapey beer

It's less about being outraged and more about getting likes/views on your site
1.find something offensive to blog about
2. Get your outrage to go viral
3. Profit!
