More like 300-1 for guys to girls ratio. Will post my thoughts a little later about my experience.

Tons of costumes. Lots of Jedi, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, Rebel Pilots, Stormtroopers. Way more than I saw at Disney's D23 show. Costume people came out a little later. There were only a few in line with us.

I was being generous. I'd be willing to bet the attractive girl to guy ratio would be in the 1000 to 1 range.

There was quite a few Slave Leia's that had no business wearing that costume.

That costume still seems to be popular as hell.

I get claustrophobic in crowds, so just looking at that pic is giving me a panic attack. I feel sorry for anyone who needed to get to the restroom in a hurry.

Great photos, though! Thanks for sharing.

^^ its hard to tell, but there are aisles between every row. I went to the bathroom and stood "outside" my line for probably 1/3 to half the time we waited for them to open. It wasnt as bad as it looks. But it was bad. Lol

"Unbelievable, look, among the nerds I found an actual girl here. Look at this, not to shabby around here, huh honey? The male/female ratio, yeah? I mean, you've got your veritable pick of the litter: you can choose from all kinds of guys who have no idea how to please you."

Maybe it's just me, but if your spending that much money for a picture with them, they damn well should at least be standing up.

Well, technically it was $195.

I wasn't going to splurge, but then I thought what were the odds of ever getting a chance to have a photo with these guys again? Besides, I'm not much for buying merchandise like t-shirts and toys (although I do buy books and some of the comics), so this was where my money went.

By the way, for anyone that's never met Mark Hamill...he lives up to what you hope a celebrity would be like - I met him a couple times over the four days (as well as attended his panel, which I'm sure many of you saw online) and he's always "on"...just an incredibly nice guy.

BTW, I waited 2 hours for that photo...and was at the mid-point of the line. There were probably about 1,000 people lined-up.

They were taking photos with people for about 4 hours total...and that was just on Friday night...they were doing it again on Saturday (when the crowd was even bigger). The fact that they were still lively and gracious after all that time is a real testament to the kind of actors they are. Can you image Ford ever doing something like that? He'd be grumpy after 5 minutes.

Re: Star Wars Celebration 2015

Even if the actors split the money 50/50 with the photographer, that's still $50 they'd each receive for every photo taken. I'm guessing you get about twenty seconds with them? Three photos per minute for four hours... Mark and Carrie would each receive $36,000 for Friday alone.

If they did that all four days of Celebration, they each walk away with $144,000 minimum (probably a lot more). They could earn enough to pay for their kid's Ivy League tuition just by sitting in front a Sears Portrait Studio backdrop for sixteen hours. Nice work if you can get it.

Stallone charges almost $500, so Luke and Leia= good deal.

I suppose it depends on the level of fame the person has to help sell tickets. Sometimes it's the other way around and the celeb (I use the term loosely) has to pay to reserve a table. In some cases, the actor or their booking agent will have a contract guaranteeing they'll earn a certain amount at an event. If the guest doesn't reach that number from autograph/photo op sales, the con steps in and pays the rest.

I do respect that Fisher never tries to sugar coat the reason she does conventions. She even compared it to lap dancing: the nerds pay her money and they get a quick thrill. Then you have someone like William Shatner, who goes on Howard Stern and denies personally charging his fans and places the blame for his $75 autograph fee directly on the people running the conventions -- which is simply untrue.

Re: Star Wars Celebration 2015

I'd expect Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher are paid to be there. 2 of the biggest Star Wars actors draws a ton of people & I'm sure the convention used their appearance as a selling point.

Now "3rd Stormtrooper from the right" would be a guy who pays to set up his table.

Re: Star Wars Celebration 2015

I remember when Star Trek conventions were all the rage in the '70s and there were two competing people behind the conventions: Joan Winston and Al Schuster. The latter would get the entire ST cast to show up, along with sci-fi writers like Harlan Ellison and Isaac Asimov and Ben Bova, etc., because he PAID them enough to make it worthwhile for them all to show up. Winston's cons had to settle for a lot less star power because she thought just being a fan was enough. Schuster didn't even seem to like ST, but he loved the money that came from the cons. And the fans benefited from his profit motive because they got to see the entire original cast up on stage all at once. (I know because I was there.)

So I can't imagine that Hamill and Fisher aren't getting well paid to show up.
