Easter Bunny

Watching Hop, my 5 year old has told me that she believes in the Easter Bunny. Oh dear, because we're not going to be buying her any Easter eggs (too much sugar) so I foresee a problem...

Re: Easter Bunny

Easy solution: Bring her a dead bunny on Easter and tell her that the Easter Bunny died from eating too much sugar. Not only will she no longer believe in the Easter Bunny but she'll lose any desire to sugary foods.

I think they have a sugar-free version of those plastic eggs.

Re: Easter Bunny

My cousin asked me why we celebrate Easter and I told him because a bunny stabbed Jesus with a spear while on the cross in the side to end his suffering. My aunt was not ammused.

Don't worry. Easter eggs don't have sugar.

Re: Easter Bunny

Get some plastic easter eggs and fill them up with baby carrots or something.

Then put the eggs inside an iPad box. It can be a morning of descending levels of disappointment.

Americans really are fat if companies are now injecting sugar into eggs.

Re: Easter Bunny

Easter is a celebration of rebirth. Rebirth of WHAT depends upon your religion, or lack thereof.

But, an easter egg hunt is mandatory, in any case.

I saw the link - I couldn't quote it because I've not made 30 posts here yet so I'm not allowed to post links. But I still didn't see the point, sorry.

Re: Easter Bunny

I was crushed as a six-year-old when I missed an easter egg hunt, due to some obligations by my parents. Your daughter will resent you into adulthood for keeping them away from her.

Re: Easter Bunny

My parents aren't religious but we did an Easter egg hunt as kids. My brother and I also each got a kite from the Easter Bunny which ended up wrapped around the power lines by noon.

Holy crap. Is that site for real or is it satire?

Some of my favorite postings from that site:

April fools "pranks" are not allowed in or around LFDC. It's Gregorian calendar presumptive and promotes chaos.
April Fools Day is an agent of chaos... like the Joker...

New followers: welcome but please don't assume a follow will bump you on the waitlist. All applicants must submit 3 to 7 years before birth.
You have to apply 3-7 years before you have a baby? What?

Presley's parents may be upset, but he wanted to cut his own hair and who are we to say no?! We don't govern children's bodies! No one can!
Um, parents or guardians are supposed to govern what a child can and cannot do.

You can actually do a lot of mental damage with negative words like "hate," "time-out," and "peanut butter."

We had to let a teacher go for saying "TGIF." That kind of religious extremism is dangerous, especially in a classroom of growing minds.

Sorry but we had to ask Effie to put away the puppets that she made. Puppets perpetuate make believe. We want our kids to live in this world
Yes, let's not let our children have an imagination. It's bad for them.

Cilantro has over 70 digits of Pi memorized and she's not even on the spectrum! #PiDay

Sorting out today's bday incident - Tellulah's mommies brought in a Star Wars cake. No sugar! No war for entertainment! Not in our nursery!
I pity the child who grows up never getting to watch Star Wars.

Pussy Riot's House of Cards appearance was met with cheers & "Da!" at our screening. We're watching as a community to avoid harmful spoilers
Star Wars is bad, but Pussy Riot is okay?

Incident report: Frodo (2) scratched Bug (4) after she tried his tahini curried carrot salad w/o asking. Bug scratched Frodo's Wilco record.
Are these the kids real names?

So cute! Little Jennifer made his own sweat-lodge near the Lou Reed memorial zen garden. He's being very inclusive by welcoming all ages!
A boy named Jennifer? What the hell is going on with the names of kids at this place?

Zaire (37 months) is this week's podcast laureate. Her breakdown of the violent themes and gender bias in the Itsy Bitsy Spider wowed us all
Next up: a 10 page essay on Humpty Dumpty
