Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
Kidding but..
Vanilla Ice arrested for home burglary Famed rapper Robert Van Winkle is on thin ice with the Lantana Police Department. Van Winkle, also known as Vanilla Ice, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of residential burglary. Police said he took furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and various other items from a home in the 100 block of North Atlantic Drive in Lantana. Police think the burglary occurred sometime between December and February. Lantana Police Chief Sean Scheller said the investigation began after the Department got a call from the owner of the home. The man told officers the home, which is being foreclosed upon, had been cleaned out. Scheller did not say why investigators suspected Van Winkle. Officers searched a home belonging to Van Winkle — best known for the '90s rap hit "Ice, Ice, Baby," — and discovered the stolen goods inside. They were returned to their rightful owner, police said. The vacant house is located next to a home that Van Winkle is currently renovating for a reality TV show called "The Vanilla Ice Project." The show airs on DIY Network, a subsidiary of the HGTV network. Lynn Davis, spokeswoman for DIY Network and HGTV, said the station "has been made aware of the situation and is looking into it further." Scheller said the home Van Winkle is accused of burglarizing had nothing to do with the show, nor was he allowed to access it for any reason. He said as of Wednesday, police do not have any other suspects in the burglary, though there might be in the future. "I don't think he worked all by himself," Scheller said. Wednesday, Scheller said Van Winkle was very polite and cordial, and was working with detectives on the case. Van Winkle is charged with burglary and grand theft. Police said he was expected to be booked into the Palm Beach County Jail late Wednesday. Yo, yo, link here magiddy wack yo Stop collaborate and listen you just got home now your $hit is missin. Thread didn't deliver. Was really hoping that BD player was worth the drama.

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
His name is really Van Winkle? I always thought that was a made up name for the folktale of Rip Van Winkle. I have never heard that name in real life.
Anyway... GO NINJA GO NINJA GO!! |
Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
Rob Van Winkle.

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
It's quite possible that the thieves took the stuff from one empty house and stored it in another empty house that just happened to be owned by Vanilla Ice. Van Winkle seems to be doing alright with his house flipping endeavors, seems odd that he would jeopardize that with a home burglary but who knows.

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
In an ironic twist, it turns out the victim was none other than David Bowie.

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
Yes, I heard that among the stolen items, Lantana police also located the riff from "Under Pressure".

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
So is this like the new death pool? What washed up rapper will get busted for a felony next?
Put me down for Sir Mix-a-Lot, dine-and-dash. |
Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
Was it a home that Ice bought? Or just a random home that was being foreclosed on? That story reads like "Overzealous House Flipper VS Squatter".
Sounds like Ice didn't have his paperwork straight and thought he was going to punk the squatter out of his house early. |
Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
I wonder if someone got word to his mother after he was booked into jail?

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
This whole case baffles me. Not to namedrop but I spent some time with Ice and he's an intelligent, introspective guy. I just don't see him burglarizing a neighbor when he finally has something going on again with his career, but I guess we'll see.

Re: Vanilla Ice stole my blu-ray player
Like others have said, Ice seems to be doing pretty well with his various tv shows. My guess is the stuff was on the front lawn or laying around after the foreclosure, and Ice or a friend thought it was fair game. I've seen stuff on the lawn of foreclosures or evictions, and wondered how long it has to lay there before someone can slap a "free" sign on it to get rid of it.
