Warm winter gloves: Your recommendations are:

I need a new pair of winter gloves and I want to make sure they are very WARM. I always have cold hands this time of year and my current el cheapo gloves aren't cutting it.

- don't need the texting finger option
- don't necessarily need to be able to pick up a pencil but I don't want big fat unusable fingers, either
- my main outdoor needs are not necessarily athletic or work-related - dog walking, for example - but I hate it when my fingers are cold.

Who has warm gloves out there?

Re: Warm winter gloves: Your recommendations are:

I bought a pair of leather gloves with cashmere inner lining about 5 years ago and even though they were extremely thin they were incredibly warm! Then I lost one!

I'm still looking for a replacement pair. Sorry to bring you guys down with such a tragic story.

I'm a skier, spend lots of time outside in winter. If you have cold hands, consider mittens. Way warmer than gloves.

If that's not an option, it's still worth it to get ski gloves, not just any old gloves. Go to an REI or ski store. If that's not an option or you don't want to spend much money, these are surprisingly warm and useful: http://www.kinco.com/product/94hk/ Buy some snoseal: http://www.atsko.com/1330.html treat them occasionally, and they're awesome.

You will not be disappointed with a pair of these

COLDWAVE SNO FIRE 3 FINGER MITT

http://www.upnorthsports.com/snowmob...nger-mitt.html

don't let the $32 price fool you, I have gloves that cost $100 that are not as warm as my coldwave mitts.

They are technically snowmobile gloves, but I use them riding a street motorcycle in winter, only thing warmer would be heated gloves, and you still have plenty of movement to work controls, etc with the way they fit. Not sure I could hold a pencil and sign my name, but I can easily work motorcycle controls with them on.

Also a plus for me they come in extended sizes. I use them for general being out in the cold use as well.

If it really gets cold, you can always get some HotHands and put one inside the glove to keep your hand toasty.

I have a friend from Wisconsin and she always claims that mittens are the way to go. I haven't worn them since probably elementary school so I'm not sure how right she is but I would trust her winter advice over my own.

I love my Seirus Extreme All-Weather Gloves. Warm enough for short periods of time outdoors in weather down to the low teens; but not bulky at all. I have enough dexterity while wearing them to pull credit cards from my wallet (helpful when stopping to gas up) and use pens. I find myself keeping these on the entire time I drive, even after the car is warmed up, since they are so comfortable.

Yup, Mittens. If you can't do the mittens though, then ski gloves.

LL Bean has some excellent ones around $45 price range.
