When will the mushrooms start filling the sky? Thought I would never in my lifetime see gas below $3 / gallon again. In Socal, at least.. I think it has been 8 or 9 years since it was so low.

Does this mean a) more SUVs and gas guzzlers, or b) possibly reduced air travel costs are on the horizon? I'm doubtful about (b) since, once up, prices tend to stay up (= greed)

Nope. Prices decreasing is a good thing, so Obama had nothing to do with it. When prices increase, then it is Obama's fault.

Obama actually just flips a coin each morning to determine whether crude oil prices go up or down.

It is due to politics, though. Isn't Saudi Arabia voluntarily reducing the price of oil to the US in hopes of making it not worth the expense of developing more efficient means of harnessing shale reserves. Usually they tightly control supply and demand to drive price, but they're not even shutting down refineries like they normally would.

I wouldn't call that politics - it's just good ol' competition.

I have read that they're more interested in shutting out ISIS, since selling oil is apparently their main source of revenue. No idea if that's true or not.

$2.52 is the lowest I've seen around here recently, although GasBuddy lists several stations down the road under $2.50. I can't believe it.

We aren't that low, but it has been around $2.799 for the past couple of weeks here. Speedway is playing along, for once.

I paid $1.60 a gallon on Tuesday, thanks to Hy-Vee's Fuel Saver program.

Where the hell did all those things go? I used to see 6 or 7 on my way home from work. Now I see none. Did they all get abducted by aliens or sold to the government for covert operations?

I paid $3.05/gallon at a station in Bellingham, MA the other day. It has been going down, but it has been a very slow process.

I'll try! But that'll take a whole lot o' greed to catch up to Amazon's wily ways...

Yeah, which way will the coin land tomorrow, Obama? Gearing up for a Democratic majority and Hilary in 2016, right? By placating the masses and showing you're a good guy and able to wield the almighty wand to magically lower our gas prices! Thanks, Obama!

In all seriousness, perhaps this slight 'correction' in gas prices is a good thing (= less greedy Arabs, more competition?)

BUT, I'll bet good 'ol Elon is going back to the barracks to think up a new strategy if gas prices remain < $3 / gallon for long...

And, my, what about my Google self-drivable car? That's the wild card...
