We've been $2.99 - $3.09 for quite some time. Anything $2.97 or less is a bargain.

All of these added within the last two years, in an extremely underhanded fashion, while prices were "low", they slipped under the radar, and now we're stuck with them permanently in Calif.
The only gas tax hike in the last 2 years that I know of is 12 hike for gas, 20 hike for diesel.

You are also not stuck permanently, some taxes such as the recent 12 gas tax hike can be repealed, assuming that the majority of voting Californians want it to be.

On which ballot? In what time-frame? I thought the most recent tax hike (12 cents / 20 cents) was voted in by politicians without any "people's vote" on the matter at all. Could this repeal proposition possibly be on the ballot for the November elections this year?

I looked it up and you are right that it was made law by the politicians.

It's between $3.49 (Arco) & $3-89 (Mobil) in my area. I'm sure Shell easily hits the $4.

Mine is Costco price, so very near the lowest price in the area. Average price for the OC is $3.65.

From $3.63 to $3.59 down the street for some reason. Maybe a dick tease for what's to come in the next month.

on average about 2.99 for ages here in MA. Blows my mind when I go up to say middle NH and pay 2.56, on the border its generally closer to 2.99 maybe a dime or so cheaper but when I visit up north its almost always a lot cheaper....

Here in Missouri, we have the second lowest gas tax of the nation. A gas tax was just voted down yesterday.

Driving up I-81 through VA last week, I filled up for $2.34 somewhere not too far from Harrisonburg

Cheapest I have seen in a while, and never usually get that lucky on a long trip to hit the cheapest gas on my entire route

We've dropped a bit to $2.79 - $2.89. Just got back from Florida and paid 10 or 20 less

Re: I just paid $2.97 / gal for gas! Hoo-ray!?

... And Calif. remains among the most stupid places to live. How could "the people" (ie, liberal, confused, tax-loving?) actually support a 20-cent gas tax, and further, vote to support such increases in the future?? It simply boggles the mind, the stupidity never fails to amaze me.

We're around $3.89 per gallon now, soon to be $5.00 with the people's carte blanche support of gas taxes. This recent news will probably result in an across-the-board increase by greedy gas station owners "because they can." "Oh! They'll say-- you THE PEOPLE voted for gasoline price increases! Eat your heart out!. Enjoy your higher gas prices, while we go to the bank now!"

I agreed with everything until you said gas station owners. Gas station owners do not set the price and they keep almost none of the money from fuel sales. They make their money on candy and sodas and stuff.

I was being fecetious, of course! Yes, they make most of their profits on the $3 candy bars and the $2 bags of chips... that I can get at Costco 36 bars or bags of chips for ~$10.

Paid $2.95 for gas today in the OC. That's not even the cheapest in my area.

$3.30 - $3.40 around me in the San Bernardino area. On the way to work, I found an Arco with gas for $3.19! I swung around and filled up.
