In upstate NY we are still anywhere from $3.15 to $3.39 but since I drive around 800 miles a week the lower price is like getting a raise.

All these low gas prices are bad for America.

Cheapest around here is like 2.65, about 150 miles south near the state line is (according to gas buddy) the highest price in the state 3.98!!

I bet those people hate checking that site and seeing how many other areas are paying over a dollar less per gallon for their fillups

Saw on the local news this morning there are a few stations around $2.30 and there's a chance we could go under $2.00.

Down to $2.56 now. The Christmas drive from NC to Michigan is looking cheaper every day!

Re: I just paid $2.97 / gal for gas! Hoo-ray!?

There was a single gas station here in Iowa that was selling gas for $1.99 recently. It was only for part of one day, but it made the news around here.

Just tried to Google it, and it looks like that price hit Oklahoma City as well.

THANKS OBAMA!

Some folks speculate they (OPEC) are trying to drive the prices down to hurt the US shale oil industry.

Yeah that's the word. Trying to drive shale out of business by making prices so low, its no longer profitable for them.

$2.49 today

[sarcasm] Imagine that, increased supply is lowering prices, who would have thunk [/sarcasm]

Its amazing we were able to do it with all the restrictions on accessing oil reserves in the US.

Glad to see it finally happening, I think this is first time in 10 years I have been lucky enough to have a huge gas price dip right before I make a several thousand mile road trip, merry christmas to me

I am seeing $2.75 at a couple places in No. VA, that means when I get further south, I will see low $2.xx. I usually see a 50-70 cent drop as I go.

Yeah hopefully the days of OPEC Mafia are getting shorter.

"The problem for OPEC is if they don't blink, and let's say they do shut down the rate of production growth in the U.S., and they get a price back to where they like it to be, U.S. production growth starts again," Morse said.

The price of a barrel of oil in the USA has little to do with supply/demand. Futures traders buy and sell that barrel dozens of times before it ever reaches the pump, reaping massive profits which are doled out by the station owner and the consumer. Unregulated profiteering by a select few on Wall Street inflates the price of a gallon of gas well above where it should reasonably reside, but that's good ol' Murican greed for you.

Fuck 'em. Of course this will only, pardon the pun, fuel Putin's imperialist ambitions further.

I am calling it "supply" and "demand" because trying to explain it on a forum like this is near impossible. What you state above isn't even 1/16 of the entire complication.

SIMPLY PUT, have more allowable supply come into the picture changes the scene.

Today is the first day I saw $2.99 and that was for cash only. We are always high in the People's Republic of NY and always will be. We love taxes.
