Only way to know for sure it to cheat first. Only then will you know if you have the ability to get something better.

Re: YADT: Otters, how did you know?

In answer to the OP, it was several years of misery, fantasizing about divorce, having my ex mock the techniques we learned in our first, aborted try at counseling, tell me she couldn't handle counseling at the time when I told her we needed to do it again or I would consider a divorce, then proceed to do nothing while we suffered through the worst summer of our lives.

If you are posting a thread about your marriage on DVDTalk, it is time.

Re: YADT: Otters, how did you know?

I was interviewing for a promotion that would've had us moved to San Francisco.

During the month long interview process (that I ended up not getting), she came to the realization that she wanted to stay in Vegas, be independent, and that the marriage was failing. She did not want to make any attempt at salvaging it. She was done. I am sure there was another reason that I am in the dark on, but I really don't care.

Once I realized I had no option or say in the matter, I said fuck it and left.

Re: YADT: Otters, how did you know?

Funny that I'm reading this thread while listening to a couple next door fighting and throwing stuff!

Closest I came to getting married was a couple years ago, same girlfriend I finally concluded was crazy in another thread. We'd talked a lot about getting married, but luckily I learned about her true self before it was too late. (Came to a head a few months after she had her car impounded, and I'd been driving her pretty much everywhere. We had a regular brunch routine on Sundays which was nice when it started, but she decreed that I should be up and awake for it at a certain time of the morning every week, but SHE would reserve the right to sleep as late as she wanted.) First relationship where I was the one who ended it, and haven't been eager to get into another one since.

Re: YADT: Otters, how did you know?

In retrospect we probably could have worked things out in my 1st marriage. But I was young and immature. I started acting out. I aborted the counseling we were doing. She had her role too, but I'm only speaking for me here.
