Post Your Custom Frame Ups

Every time I have something framed I always like to sneak a peak at what others are framing. Sometimes it is boring family stuff but every now and then they have cool custom art, hand drawn maps, fancy ticket stubs, ect.

Post yours!

And here is one to start the ball rolling:

It's an old Halloween Pepsi ad I liked:

I especially enjoyed the Pepsi as the healthy alternative message:

The very first thing I ever had custom framed, not quite the style I would go with today...

Great print. The blue mat might be over-kill... I would add a white mat on top personally, so the blue is just a trim that would pop out.

Yes, that's a man in prison, being consoled by an angel who's letting him suck on her boob.

It's a canvas of unknown origin, about 200 to 300 years old.

And since it's an octagon (and not proportionate; each side is a slightly a different size), it was a pain in the ass to frame. I did it myself, cutting the frame at different angles for each corner. Lots of trial and error. But I think it turned out well.

And all this time I thought you weren't religious.

That frame looks like a collector piece itself.

Just because I'm liberal doesn't mean I don't believe in Jesus (don't care for the term "religious" though). My grandfather was a Presbyterian pastor after all.

That's not an angel, that's the man's daughter and it's what's known as a "Roman Charity" painting.

Re: Post Your Custom Frame Ups

Ah, cool. The woman that told me about it was mistaken then. It was given to me by an old friend of my mom's uncle, who passed away long time ago. Took me a while to get around to re-framing it. The old frame was rotted and falling apart.

If you have limited run artwork like Mondo prints, you should probably get those professionally framed and matted with UV protected glass or plexiglass. It's going to pricey, but it will give you peace of mind and allow you to show off your art.

I have had a number of posters in frames with direct contact to the glass for years, before I knew they were supposed to be matted, and I've never had any issue with damage like mildew or the print sticking to the glass. Some of these were even stored without climate control so they were subject to swings in temperature and humidity and there were no problems. Not sure if glass damage is exaggerated or not, but I'm more concerned about UV damage than anything else.

But with stuff that is valuable, I don't take a chance.

Shout! Factory Limited Edition "Rocko's Modern Life" Lithograph Signed by Creator Joe Murray:

Larger Version:
Spoiler:

I went with a simple frame for this one because the art itself is so lively and colorful. It's kind of hard to tell from the photograph, but the buildings are colored in a way that it looks almost like water color. I wanted a matte that complemented this style and think I picked a pretty good one. The glass is non-reflective and UV resistant. This is located in my media room.

The Avett Brothers Orlando, FL Concert Print:

Larger Version:
Spoiler:

I went with a black frame for this one too since I knew it'd be hanging in the same room as my Rocko Lithograph. I got this one after a concert The Avett Brothers put on in Orlando back in November 2013. I liked it because the artist obviously took the venue into consideration when putting the sawgrass and and flamingo on it. The colors of the print are silver, gold, black, and white. Despite only consisting of four colors it's one of the more striking concert prints I've seen and has a hint of sparkle/glitter to it. As such, I selected a silver matte which is nearly identical to that in the print and has its own sparkle/glitter to it. The black frame has a hint of gold on the inside that makes it look as though it was lightly sprayed on. The frame and matte go very well with the print and really make it pop. The glass is non-reflective and UV resistant. This is located in my media room.

Eric Joyner Print from Tinworld Series, Titled "Summer Afternoon":

Larger Version:
Spoiler:

Sorry for the glare on this one! I stumbled upon Eric Joyner's work on reddit a while back and found this print and fell in love with it. It's got great colors and is very relaxing, which is why it's situated in my bedroom. I love the contrast of technology and nature. This one is HUGE. I forget how big the print itself is, but obviously with the matte and frame it takes up a large portion of the wall. It's actually a double-matte with the inner portion being a blue that not only brings out the blue in the picture but also matches my walls nicely. The outer matte is purple to compliment the robot and make it pop. The frame is a darker brown to match the rest of the furniture in my bedroom. And as you can see it's near a window so once again I went with the non-reflective and UV resistant glass. This one really set me back...

I've got a couple other posters at work that I'll try to take pictures of if I remember to, but as a bonus here are a few canvases that are in my house:

These are both originals done by my aunt and are hanging on a wall in my living room. I'm waiting on a third one to add to the bottom to round out the display.

Sorry the picture is a little crooked on this one, but the picture itself is hanging straight, rest assured. I took this picture a few years ago on my road trip to the Grand Canyon and had a free code for a Shutterfly canvas print so figured what the hell? If you haven't been to the Grand Canyon I highly recommend making a trip out there; truly incredible and awe-inspiring.

---

And this isn't a frame or piece of artwork, but I figured I'd share this while I was at it:

Please excuse the obnoxious Instagram filter. I got this antique radio from my now-deceased grandmother's home. I put it alongside my Sonos Play:5 as a decorative piece to show how far technology has come when we think of listening to music. I think it still works actually, but I'm afraid to try it for fear of starting a fire.

Hope everyone's enjoyed my pictures as much as I've enjoyed theirs!

Re: Post Your Custom Frame Ups

I don't know, but I'm guessing yes because everything looks fine. I'm just concerned that if there is something wrong with it that if I plug it in to start it up it might spark something inside and ruin it completely. I might take it to a specialist some day to have them check it out, but until then it's just decorative.

I agree, this was my first custom frame up and it is defiantly not so hot. I do have this companion piece to it though:
