YAJT: Interviews on interviews on interviews

The place I currently work for has been sold off to new owners. It's been pretty much business as usual, but I figured it was time to make a transition out of my current work and into something totally new.

Anyway, I got a call last week from a place I submitted my resume to. They wanted to do a phone interview with me on Labor Day since one of their offices are overseas. I happily obliged.

Soon after, I received an email indicating a second-round interview with the CEO. It seemed to go pretty decent. The next day I got an invitation to a third-round interview with the VP of Marketing. And then it was moved-up rather quickly to a day sooner, which was easy enough for me to accommodate.

Finally, I got an email again to do an in-person interview in downtown Minneapolis. I met face-to-face with the executive I'd be working for. It lasted about an hour but I felt pretty good about it when I left. He said that I'd hear back likely by Sunday.

Sunday and Monday come and go with no word. This morning I get a voicemail indicating that the CEO wants to do a Skype conference call with me tomorrow morning, again because he operates overseas.

I'm not sure what to make of this situation. Does it seem like I might have a chance? I hope so, as I could use a much better job that I'm actually interested in. Either way, the ambiguity is killing me.

As long as they want to keep seeing you, it's a good thing.

I know it can get frustrating but it's how it works. Just gotta be patient.

They wouldn't bother setting up all those meetings if they weren't interested. They'd just stop contacting you. I'd say it's a good thing.

Definitely a good thing. Wear your horse mask on the next Skype call - guaranteed success.

Agreed with the others, your description makes it sound like everything is moving in a positive direction. Maybe the Skype call is so they can make you an offer "in person"?

Re: YAJT: Interviews on interviews on interviews

I'm not necessarily frustrated that they are vetting me, I understand it takes time and process to figure out who to hire.

But who knows, I think it seemed positive, but who knows until tomorrow.

Only five interviews? Nah, it's just a formality. You didn't get the job.

It's a good sign that they want everyone to see you. You're very close to getting the job in my opinion. My company is insane with how many interviews they make candidates go through. They also give the candidates a "project" to finish (no matter what position they are going for). Homework for a potential job candidate? I keep saying to myself that I'd never get the job I have now if I have to interview for it today. Good luck, hopefully you'll be hearing good news soon.

Re: YAJT: Interviews on interviews on interviews

I'm on the interview carousel as well. I was let go back in July, although they're keeping me on payroll until September 15, then I have a severance package that keeps me paid until around the end of the year.

But then someone clued me in to a company looking for a person with my exact job description from my last company. Did the phone interview on Wednesday of last week, no call back for a personal interview. I can't imagine they wouldn't call me in for at least a personal interview, based on my experience and performance on the phone interview. Plus, I got an E-mail from them Friday (a different person than who did my phone interview) asking me for a phone interview. I contacted them back, and after a few E-mails they realized it had already been conducted. So it seems like there's a little bit of confusion, I'm hoping that's the case at least.

I'm in no rush on this one, I'm enjoying a paid vacation. You don't get paid summers off as an adult too often.

Re: YAJT: Interviews on interviews on interviews

Well, hopefully I've got good news to report back with later. He wants to skype with me and and I'm trying to figure out how to do that from my iPhone since I obviously can't be at my current job when I take the video chat. Does the contact have to be in my friends list in order for me to receive a video call?

Lol, it was a more informative interview with the CEO. He said they'd be in touch via email tomorrow. Still ambiguous due to the time difference.

And if it's like my job, after all the interviews on interviews on interviews, you'll be hired and have meetings to plan for meetings and meetings to review meetings. The cycle is endless.

You should send him some leaked nudes of yourself, that always helps.

How is he going to have time for meetings when he has to interview candidates all day?

I'll take the power of The Otter on this one.

This is going to be a huge step up for me as I've been working at the same place for 10.5 years...still my first job.

Congratulations! Maybe some of your luck will rub off on me, I recently applied for a job at the Discovery Channel that I'm anxious about. Sent an application on Monday and haven't heard back yet. I am desperate to get out of news.
