Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

I cant recall the last time I ate at OG, it was a favorite of the family for a long time but the last few it was so average or even below average and what we paid for basically 2 boxes of plain pasta with sauce and one chicken parm was obscene. that salad and bread back in the day though...

They say the same benefits, but it's not quite exactly the same. You can't use the lifetime for ToGo orders. It'll still more than pay for itself even if you visit 4-5 times for a few years, but when I got the pasta pass a few years ago, I used it on orders to go all the time. I'd pick up after work, have one for dinner, one for lunch the next day. Not every day, but I made out like a bandit and the pass probably paid for itself 3x over. (Although that much pasta in that short a time span was a decision I'd need to better prepare for again if I ever did got another pass. Totally worth it at the time, though.)

You can't use the regular Pasta Pass for To Go orders any more either.

I have never eaten at Olive Garden. I had a coworker get a pass and he went to Olive Garden every single day that the pass was valid. I think for six straight weeks.

Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

The only thing I like at Olive Garden is the salad and bread sticks. Everything else, meh. I would much rather go to an authentic Italian place, of which the Kansas City area has a goodly number, than there.

Reading the fine print it says only valid on certain menu items otherwise I'd be down. I love Olive Garden.

Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

With the barrage of very strict limitations, and the fact that you're basically paying $400 for pasta which costs them less than a buck per visit, you'll need over 400 visits to break even. And the resulting medical bills from all the weight gain and morbidity resulting from the straight refined carb overload will be $40k at least. So, it's a terrible, terrible "deal" overall. Olive Garden used to be decent, now they've gone to the dogs -- and no dog would eat that tasteless white gooey blob that is their pasta, anyway.

The cost to the consumer is about $10 per meal, so you would need to go about 10 times to break even on the 9-week pass, and 50 times to break even on the lifetime pass.

Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

The problem I have is that for the locations in Manhattan (of which now there is only one left, Times Square) the service is so slow. Getting refills takes forever, and they have the worst “finished-eating-to-getting-your-check” time. I can’t see doing lunch there in under an hour.
(the other problem is that the food is Olive Garden)

Proof positive that the consumer is getting royally ripped off if it's $10 for a simple spaghetti plate. Plus tax. Plus tip. Bollocks!

50 cents of cheap pasta and 50 cents of cheap tomato sauce for that $10 plate. The new fuzzy logic math.

No way I'd do this. Olive Garden once every 6 months, is bad enough.

Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

I was thinking about doing this but since it's dine-in only you'd have to tip, so even if you only tipped like $2-$3 each time it could add a good amount of money to the total. If you went 30 times and tipped $3 each time that almost doubles the cost of the pass.

Hmm, I tip when getting take-out. I figure that the food didn't get into the away containers and into the bag by itself.

I tried, sold out in a second again. I clicked the second the button appeared, but it didn't work, I guess it's like Jeopardy and you get locked out for a fraction of a second if you're slightly early.

Re: Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta Pass

I got one. I don’t think I’ve been to an Olive Garden before, but why the hell not. It’s probably a 20 - 30 min drive, so not ideal on weekdays, but I’ll be there on weekends. It’s near a an AMC, so I can catch a movie then go again if wanted/ order another bowl and get that packed up (that should be within the rules, since it’s not to go)
