What is the name of your pet?

Re: What is the name of your pet?
We have a female Boxer named Olive. She was given to us by my in-laws, after both my wife's parents (who purchased her) and my brother-in-law decided they couldn't handle her. I didn't really want a dog, but she sort of attached herself to me. In fact, it was my call to keep her when my wife wanted to get rid of her early on. She's a good dog, she was just very hyper as a puppy.
The name was given to her by my wife and father-in-law. My wife wanted to call her Olivia. The FIL shortened it to Olive, and that's what stuck.

Phoebe, a tuxedo-colored cat who'll turn 11 later this year. Adopted her in my first semester of grad school. People tend to assume, for some reason, that I named her after the Friends character. But her name was Phoebe when I picked her out as a kitten, and I figured it'd be rude to change it.

Our current mutts are named Moose and Elvis. Moose was named at the pound and it stuck. Many years ago we had a dog named D.O.G --- basically just spell the word "dog" and that was his name.
