Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

I would work on your hoarding and then worry about employment. I'm sure you could get disability. Once you have everything in order psychologically, which I know firsthand isn't easy, then move on to a job, girlfriend, and all the rest of it.
So you're saying I should just cancel the job interview tomorrow and go on disability? That's gotta be the weirdest advice I've gotten yet.

Will be posting pictures at the end of tomorrow night (unless I forget). Most likely the place just has to be presentable, and I doubt whoever comes in will be in the top management category. Based on how this thread was started in the first place though, I will just straight up ask if there's anything that I need to fix. I'll likely have that entire day to do anything else that needs to be done. (I believe the last time someone came in here, I documented it here- they said it was fine.)

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

Just wondering, Alan... how long could you go on without having a job? At what point would you need to liquidate your assets to pay rent and ultimately move in with your parents? Months, years, decades?
Maybe thatís not the right question to ask at this time. I think youíll find something thatíll stick and it will provide you with some needed routine and stability - good luck on your interview!

The guy will go in, check the smoke detector, and go about his way. Alan will then have no incentive to change.

Thatíd be nice, but better safe than sorry. Itíll be like what we did at the movie theaters when we heard the owner/boss guys were coming the next day- just cram and get everything in shape. I can take all night if I have to.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

I don't really post anymore, but still lurk the forums here and there. How I never opened this thread before tonight, I'm not sure. But god damn, I somehow have spent the last several hours completely immersed in this stupid thing and I'm only up to Page 96.

Figured I'd check in and set up camp for the night, because I've still got three years and more than 130 pages to go. I can only assume the OP was eventually crushed by the BBW porn.*

I'll report back!

*I about lost it when the one guy pointed out that there was porn playing on the TV; could barely breathe, possibly similarly to the OP after he was covered in his old VHS copies of The Wizard of Oz.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

I actually don't have a single VHS tape of Wizard of Oz, though I have several laserdisc editions of it. (Edit- that's not true, forgot about the one my co-worker gave me which was the very last VHS issue of it around 2002.)

I've never watched that BBW porn disc all the way through either- so many things I don't have time for!

So why do you have several LD versions of it? Special Features? Can you say where they exactly are in your apartment?

Damn, 229 pages? Just use this as the thread of the year indefinitely.

Yet you haven't made time in four years to do anything.

Not many people watch any porn disc straight through.

It obviously would take more than a single night to "get everything in shape" in your apartment. Furthermore, unless you're ever willing to throw away at least 50% of the stuff you have accumulated, it will never happen.
There's obviously no storage space (closet, cabinet or drawer) left in your apartment that isn't already crammed to overflowing with shit. Where would you put anything, if you were to ever seriously attempt to clean up? Seems like your only option is to create new piles on walking/living space.

He can start by tossing out his VHS and multiple LD copies of Wizard of Oz. While he's at it, he could get rid of any Beta and CED copies he has. Keep the best edition you have and toss the rest. And don't dump them at a thrift store; put them in the trash. No one wants it on a format that's been dead for 20-30 years.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

I know I said I was done caring, but I can't stay away. It just occurred to me that the thread is called "Landlord's on my case about my cleanliness" and now the only thing motivating him to clean is his landlord again. I wish the fucking landlord would join DVDTalk.

I never thought that reading about someone I don't know desiring Home Alone 3 on DVD would depress me, but here we are.

There's actually 5 of them, but the last two were made for TV. 3 was actually a theatrical release, but with all new characters. It also features a 12 year old Scarlett Johansson as the main character's older sister.

Actually, yes, just temporarily. Get your shit together mentally first. Other job opportunities will come around.

Go back to the first few pages. Nothing has changed except for the addition of more junk. We haven't seen evidence of his cat nor the Malaysian airliner for a long time.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

That March 2018 photo update is just heartbreaking. I'm going to elaborate a bit more once I finally catch up on this thread, but let's just say that in some capacity, those visuals and the ensuing explanation to supposedly provide context really strike a nerve for me on a personal level.

Re: Landlords on my case about my cleanliness!

Took a break to pluck 50 DVDs from my pared-down-many-times collection that will be tossed up on eBay in a lot later tonight. I thought I had a big box of DVDs that didn't fit on my shelf stashed away, but turns out, I must've taken care of those discs during one of my other purges a year or two OK.

Anyway, just got to the photos where it looks like Alan would need a pole vault to get on to his bed.

The upside is that I've only got like 40 more pages to trudge through. What a page turner!
