YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?

I bought a used Like New Matrix Ultimate Collection Boxset.

My message to seller:
"Hi, do any of the Blu-ray discs have any scratches? Do they all play without issue? How beat up is the box? I assume it has an outside covering and then the actual packaging that holds the discs? If so, are they both included? Thanks!"

Seller's response:
"Hello, I just looked at the discs again. No Scratches a few fingerprints.I watched these 1 time They played great. The Main box & All Disc Cases are in Great condition.Been in a shelf since watched. Thanks"

Item condition is like new.

Here's a picture of one disc:

The bottom of the discs have various minor scratches. May still play, but I like the disc to look good.

Do I have a beef or is that acceptable as like new? Thanks!

What is it I'm supposed to be looking at in this picture?

Right to the left of the b for Blu-ray. Various scratches from Neo to the edge of the disc.

I can't see any scratches or defects in the picture you attached.

Since nothing is readily apparent in the photo, you have no beef.

Those two lines to the left of the b for Blu-ray and then the smaller one going from Neo to the edge. That's not disc art. Those are scratches.

Which side of the disc is scratched? I can't see anything in your picture.

The perfectly straight ones are scratches?

Those two long lines and the smaller one are three scratches, go right into the disc.

Sorry, it looks like they are part of the artwork in your picture. I honestly wouldn't like it. You asked the seller before you purchased the item, he should have mentioned it. Just my two cents.

I wonder how they got there. Strange to have scratches like that on the artwork side.

Re: YEAT: Am I being too picky or do I have a legitimate beef?

Yeah it's hard to get good photographs of damage on discs. The only way I buy used is if I get the kind of answers he gave me. I went over every possible area I could have an issue with, and if he had even said minor scratches I would have walked away. I myself will buy DVDs and BDs and never watch them and sell them and they are like new because I've never touched them so it's possible to have like new used items. And I think his answer is pretty straightforward, "no scratches." Aside from that, there are various small scratches on the disc side of 3-4 discs of 6.

Yea, I thought that was part of the artwork since they're perfectly straight and appear to be black.

I'm not sure if it's easier to tell in person as opposed to a picture - but from what I'm seeing, it doesn't look like a big deal as it seems to be hard to notice anyway.

$25. The thing is, I asked, are there scratches, specifically. He said no. I know what bothers me. I bought a like new set without scratches. eBay defines like new right on the auction page, as if it was taken right out of the package.

I agree with you. He should have disclosed it.

Spoiler:

Spoilerized for size. Here you can see where they go right through the silver part of the disc.

Yes, I might have an issue for $25. If it was like $10, I'd say no. If it's one of those giant eBay sellers, he just might give it to you for free. Worth a shot. I personally would not go to the hassle of actually mailing it back.

Nope, regular joe seller. Would eBay side with me?

Looks more like a cut than a scratch. I would email him and ask how he missed those scratches. I would be anal about it, but that's just me.

And the case is fine, so it didn't happen during shipping.

yes ebay will side with you. The stupid thing is, that you'll have to return them for a refund, which means you are out of pocket on return shipping.

Also, Amazon.co.uk has the trilogy for 18.20 shipped/new

EDIT;; Nevermind, I didn't see the Ultimate collection part.

What are you trying to get out of it? A full return and refund or a couple bucks knocked off?

and…

Full refund and money to cover return shipping. That is in my opinion making me whole, putting me back to where I was before the transaction. I don't like scratched discs.

Good luck. What about full refund, you keep the discs? That's happened to me a couple of rare times I haven taken issue.
